Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Duke | I know they won't shoot that well every night or even most nights, but if they even shoot half as well... oof |
| Tennessee | no knock on Tennessee but duke won at Virginia |
| North Carolina | The blue bloods (UNC and UK specifically) have returned. Unfortunately. |
| Virginia | I'm conflicted here as it was a statistically absurd night for Duke, but they did lose at home by quite a bit. Only drop one though. |
| Gonzaga | I was really high on Gonzaga going into the season, but its unfortunate they never have any conference opportunities to push themselves up |
| Kentucky | That stint of Kentucky being bad was nice, but I guess we can't have nice things so. |
| Michigan | Have some offensive struggles, but they have individuals who can go off (Poole, Teske, Iggy) and a PG to take them through the tough times. |
| Marquette | Markus Howard is good at basketball, and the Hauser boys are slightly less good but still good |
| Houston | Beat top-25 Cincinnati |
| Purdue | Little bit of a homer move, but the biggest knock against Purdue before was its lack of depth, and the stat sheet has never been more spread |
| Nevada | Same as Gonzaga |
| Michigan State | Hot take: Illinois is a tournament team that played too hard of a schedule, the loss still doesn't look great, but the skid has stopped. |
| Kansas | Close loss @Kstate |
| LSU | Beat two really good teams in Mississippi State and Auburn |
| Texas Tech | They may not win the Big 12, but can they help dethrone Kansas?? or will they eat every other team and lose to KU by 20? Who knows? |
| Louisville | I'm pretty impressed with the job Mack has been able to do in a program everyone thought was dead in the water. |
| Villanova | I'm sure the wildcats will look forward to their rematch with Marquette in their own house |
| Wisconsin | They won @Minnesota and lost on the road to a team ranked higher |
| Maryland | Despite my love for Tim Miles, beating Nebraska is getting less and less impressive... still it was in Pinnacle so |
| Iowa State | losing at home = oof |
| Virginia Tech | I got the displeasure of watching V-tech without Justin Robinson... let's just say, Buzz really needs him to come back |
| Buffalo | I like Buffalo, but same as Gonzaga and Nevada, all their conference games can do is lower their stock. |
| Iowa | Some days I love Iowa, some days I hate Iowa... I'm not sure |
| Washington | Continues to steam roll through an albeit weak PAC-12, but being 10-1 in a (used-to-be)-major conference is no joke. |
| Kansas State | Beating Kansas is big time and there's a real chance they could dethrone them. |
