Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Michigan State | The most complete team on paper to start the year. Langford news stings, but in 18-19 showed they can win without him. Shooting could be a ? |
| Kansas | Excellent 1-2 punch w/ Doke & Dotson. Lineup versatility exists but will expect a more traditional Kansas lineup with 2 bigs. |
| Kentucky | This team will thrive with its athleticism and defensive capabilities |
| Duke | Tre Jones needs to be the unquestioned leader of the team for this team to succeed. Great incoming class, but not like last year... |
| Florida | The Blackshear addition catapults this team to a top tier contender. |
| Louisville | Excellent coach, all-star type player in Nwora, and a balanced and deep team have me excited about Louisville this year. |
| North Carolina | Cole Anthony will be great. We know what we're getting from NC. Lost a lot from last year so the new pieces need to step up. |
| Gonzaga | The front line is massive, Mark Few cannot be questioned, and the frosh and transfers should be plug n play |
| Maryland | This team has got it all on paper -- I'm going to close my eyes and hope Turgeon can put it all together...not holding my breath tho |
| Texas Tech | I have confidence in Chris Beard adjusting with the new personnel this year. Shot creation duties are a question and Ramsey needs to be good |
| Virginia | Defense and Tony Bennett will keep this team towards the top of the ACC but I have some concerns on the offensive end |
| Baylor | Again, you have to love this team on paper. A ton of depth and lineup flexiblity -- just hoping that Scott Drew can push the right buttons |
| Ohio State | Solid squad that's may end up being one of the more consistent teams in the country. I half expect them to be in the 10-15 range all-season |
| Villanova | In Jay Wright I trust, but who's the "next man up" for this Nova squad? |
| Seton Hall | Myles Powell will be electric, but I'm not sure how much better this team will be this season |
| Florida State | Leonard Hamilton has built a rock solid program that I have confidence in. Gimme that length and floor general Trent Forrest all day |
| Memphis | I'm excited to see Penny and the hype-show that is Memphis, but I need to see it before I believe it |
| Xavier | Rock-solid foundation and veteran leadership is back from last year |
| Houston | The Quentin Grimes news gives this team a much higher floor and an offensive weapon to add to what should be another great defense |
| LSU | This squad feels so eerily similar to last years and Wade could recreate some of the success this year as well |
| Oregon | Pritchard will be the leader and this team looks to be as good defensively as it was at the end of last year -- can Altman put it together? |
| VCU | The defense should be every bit as good this year as it was last year. Let's hope Marcus Evans can stay healthy. |
| Utah State | Easily a must watch team this year -- Craig Smith's offense is fun to watch and they have 2 studs in Sam Merrill and Neemias Queta |
| Saint Mary's | They should compete at the top of the WCC with the likes of Jordan Ford and Malik Fitts, but will ultimately fall short of Zaga yet again |
| Purdue | Matt Painter has earned a reputation not to count the Boilermakers out despite the lost talent. Great coach who should put it together again |
