Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Michigan State | Tier 1: Pretty easy choice, even without Langford they have a better combination of talent and experience than anyone else. |
| Kentucky | Tier 2: An easy second for me. Experienced point guard, strong incoming class, good coaching. |
| Kansas | Tier 2: An easy third. I think DeSousa's impact is overestimated, or I would have them second. |
| Duke | Tier 3: This is where it gets closer. I'm skeptical about the interior defense and outside shooting. |
| Louisville | Tier 3: Mostly comes down to Nwora, although Sutton is one of the more underrated players in the ACC. |
| Florida | Tier 3: Blackshear, Nembhard, and Lewis are talented enough to make this a borderline top 5 team. |
| Maryland | Tier 4: Big drop from 6 to 7 in my eyes. Maybe still a little high on Maryland, but Cowan/Smith is a top 3 guard/big man combo. |
| North Carolina | Tier 4: Cole Anthony is the big piece of course, but I expect to see Brooks make the traditional Roy big man jump. |
| Gonzaga | Tier 4: A healthy Tillie should be a difference maker. Gilder won't be Clarke, but I expect him to be good. |
| Villanova | Tier 5: Like UVA, a big piece of this is coaching. But 'Nova has more talent. |
| Virginia | Tier 5: See 'Nova. |
| Texas Tech | Tier 5: The last of the "unknown talent level, great coaching" group. Really a toss-up between TT and UVA, if Clarke is good look out. |
