Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | I have zero clue what the NCAA is gonna do with these allegations, but so far it's been nothing, and this roster is loaded. |
| Michigan State | Langford is a huge loss but they're replacing him with a guy named Rockett Watts, which is the greatest name in the history of Earth. |
| Kentucky | Let's see if Sestina can bring the same production Travis brought last year in the same role. |
| Duke | I currently attend UNC grad school, and I did my undergrad at Minnesota (whom Jones and Hurt both spurned for this team). This'll be fun. |
| Louisville | Nwora returning is gigantic, but the real story here is Ryan McMahon: dingers for the Rockies in the summer; buckets for Mack in the winter. |
| Florida | Blackshear grad transfer from VT pushes them over the top, but don't let it distract from how good their recruiting class is. |
| North Carolina | There was a shooting contest at Late Night with Roy and, at one point, they hit 3 out of 4 halfcourt shots. Let's see Duke pull that off. |
| Memphis | How will this roster fit together? Who cares, lol. If Calipari inherited this recruiting class, the team would be ranked in the top three. |
| Seton Hall | I remember this time last year, when I thought losing Rodriguez and Delgado was gonna sink the ship. This time the whole team is back. |
| Virginia | As long as he's been given some non-terrible recruits (he has), I trust Bennett. |
| Villanova | Great recruiting class + Gillespie running point + Wright coaching magic = profit |
| Utah State | Merrill gets most of the buzz, but Queta is arguably better, and he probably had a spot on an NBA roster if he wanted it. |
| Gonzaga | They won't be ridiculously unstoppable on offense like last year, but Tillie and Co. will still put the biscuit in the basket. |
| Texas Tech | Beard has more than earned the benefit of the doubt despite the massive talent exodus. |
| Saint Mary's | In a completely legitimate game that was in no way rigged, this team took down the juggernaut that was '19 Gonzaga. Almost everyone returns. |
| Maryland | I...I don't get it. I think people are underestimating how important Fernando was, and their newcomers this year don't inspire confidence. |
| Oregon | Pritchard still has eligibility? Really? |
| Ohio State | Kind of upset they took Justin Sueing -- the most Berkeley name possible -- from Cal. |
| Washington | Is Hopkins an elite defensive coach or was Thybulle just that transcendent? Time to find out! |
| Illinois | This team is being massively slept on. Nichols and Frazier are legit upperclassmen, and they somehow kept Dosunmu. They're gonna go dancing. |
| VCU | Nobody will score on this team. If Evans didn't get injured in the postseason last year, they would have gotten a lot further than they did. |
| Baylor | Teague is a good get in the transfer portal, and Clark can play a starring role this year. |
| Colorado | I'm pretty high on Wright, and I think this squad has a shot at the Pac-12 title if they can put it all together. |
| Purdue | Painter gets a preseason spot on my ballot until he stops pulling rabbits out of his hat. |
| Marquette | The Hausers deciding to bounce after Howard announced his return will never not be funny to me. |
