Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Best victory of the year so far, Maxey looks very good. |
| Duke | Beating Kansas shows that the Blue Devils are going to be one of the contenders again this year. |
| Michigan State | Close loss to a team good enough to beat Michigan State, so they can't fall too far |
| Kansas | Another close loss to a top team situation, Kansas is very talented and still Big 12 favorites. |
| Louisville | Have only played Youngstown State but they won handily at least, will be interesting to see how Mack can prepare them for the ACC |
| North Carolina | Cole Anthony's debut could not have gone better for the Tar Heels. |
| Maryland | Maryland was down big to Rhode Island but RIU isn't bad and the Terrapins came back to avoid an early loss. |
| Gonzaga | Gonzaga doing Zaga things, dominating small terrible schools but looking impressive while doing it |
| Texas Tech | I don't think Chris Beard's squad will win the title this year, but making the Final Four or at least Elite 8 wouldn't shock me |
| Virginia | The stifling Virginia defense lives on after the national title, we'll see if their offense can be good enough to get them there again |
| Seton Hall | Terrible news for Seton Hall fans, hopefully Powell's injury isn't that bad because he looked really solid in the opener especially. |
| Memphis | Their season obviously depends on Wiseman's situation with the NCAA, but since he's playing right now I'm not going to drop them. |
| Florida | I believe this team will be good and has talent, and FSU was hyped for the rivalry, but not a great loss for the #6 ranked team. |
| Oregon | Oregon looked quite good while blowing up Boise State, maybe not as good as their women's team though. |
| Villanova | I'm not quite sold on Villanova but they look good, will see how they perform against the Buckeyes |
| Ohio State | Solid win over another good team in Ohio, the matchup against Villanova will be very interesting. |
| Utah State | Utah State looks legit, they'll be one of the mid majors to beat at the end of the year. |
| Xavier | Tyrique Jones and Naji Marshall are a scary duo that could cause trouble in March |
| Auburn | Two not very large wins, but I think this team is still very good and will improve. |
| Washington | Great win against a team I think was a little overranked, but Washington will be one of the PAC 12's threats this year |
| Arizona | Early season expectations for the PAC 12 are a little elevated imo but Arizona has some decent OOC games to show their value |
| Saint Mary's | Nailbiter against Wisconsin, but i think the Badgers are a good team and the Gaels did pull out the win. |
| Baylor | I wasn't as high on the difference between Baylor and Washington but floundered an opportunity for a good win |
| Marquette | Purdue lost to Texas but is still a potential good win for the Golden Eagles this week. |
| LSU | Not as large a victory over Bowling Green as you would hope but VCU is a good nonconference game coming up |
