Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | No question about this one. |
| Virginia | 1 and 2 are set. Duke may be creeping up here, though. |
| Duke | The only thing keeping Duke from being number 2 is that loss to Miami. |
| Villanova | More high RPI wins than Wisconsin, but with the eye test, they're about even. |
| Wisconsin | 4 and 5 are interchangeable |
| Arizona | 6-8 could be in any order, really. |
| Kansas | The most RPI top 25 wins. A couple early season blowouts holding KU back. |
| Gonzaga | Only 1 loss, not a lot of really stellar wins, though. Still enough to be a 2 seed, at least. |
| Iowa State | 1 game behind KU in the toughest league in America. Still could win it outright. Top 10. |
| Notre Dame | After their spanking by Duke, Notre Dame is back to playing solid ball. |
| Northern Iowa | Same problem as Gonzaga, except the losses are to worse teams. |
| Oklahoma | 12 through 17 is really the definition of middle-of-the pack. All good teams. |
| Wichita State | |
| North Carolina | |
| Utah | I'm souring on Utah. |
| Baylor | Stronger than what you'd expect. Baylor has really impressed me this year. |
| West Virginia | Winning on the road in the Big 12 is tough. |
| Arkansas | |
| SMU | |
| Louisville | I'm sensing the beginning of a freefall in Louisville. |
| Maryland | 21-25 have done enough to not drop out of the top 25. Mostly because people in this range keep losing. All good teams. |
| VCU | Really these guys could all be in any order. |
| Georgetown | |
| San Diego State | |
| Oklahoma State |
