Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Baylor | Tier 1a- even with the loss to kansas, head to head isn't the factor that determines who will be number 1, considering baylor beat kansas = |
| Kansas | earlier in the year. I have baylor at 1 because the in my opinion slightly better overall body of work, and simply the eye test. +1 |
| San Diego State | Tier 1b- First loss of the season, but i'm not concerned. They've only had 2 shaky games all season, and lost 1. f4 team to me -1 |
| Gonzaga | Luckily, i stayed up to watch the BYU game. It was electric. It also was not a bad loss, in fact the toughest game on the schedule. = |
| Dayton | Wins against two of the tougher a10 teams, @vcu being particularly impressive. Just barely behind sdsu and gonzaga +1 |
| Florida State | Tier 2- move up with losses ahead of them. they have looked good though +2 |
| Maryland | Stayed in the game against the team with the most top 10 home wins. if they want to go far though, they need to close it out. = |
| Kentucky | Probably don't deserve to be this high but they're one of the most talented teams in the country. +2 |
| Duke | Looked atrocious against nc state, but bounced back decently against VT. could be good they got the stinker out of their system though -4 |
| Villanova | Tier 3- if i was ranking on final 4 potential, 8-14 would all be higher. These teams have talent have talented teams, have shown flashes +2 |
| Louisville | of their true ability, have elite (UK, Duke, Nova) to great ((L'ville, creighton, oregon, SHU) coaches, and are teams that I think have +1 |
| Creighton | the highest likelihood outside of the top 4 to make deep runs in march. +3 |
| Oregon | Bounced back from a meh loss with a big win @arizona. -2 |
| Seton Hall | Come back to a more realistic spot with a bounceback week. +3 |
| Auburn | Tier 4- I'm not a big fan of auburn, but everyone else around them lost so they don't drop as far. -2 |
| BYU | Tier 5- HUGE win vs gonzaga and they looked great doing so. i've seen 4 or 5 byu games this year and they've looked good in all of them |
| Penn State | May be overreacting here, but I think they're much closer to the 17 spot then the 8 spot i had them last week. -19 |
| Iowa | Not a big fan of Iowa, but with garza and so much chaos around them, they rise up a bunch of spots. +12 |
| Michigan | Their rise isn't as meteoric as earlier in the season, but I think team is probably closer to their november selves than january selves +6 |
| Colorado | Only drop one after losing to UCLA. That's college basketball this year I guess. Big drop off after 15. = |
| West Virginia | Really need to pick up a few wins in a row to get some momentum back. -3 |
| Michigan State | tier 6 +3 |
| Arizona | Would've been big to pull out with a win in the oregon game but they should still be in good shape. |
| Marquette | both marquette and houston dont really deserve the ranking, but all but 3 of my "next 10" lost last week and etsu just barely misses out -6 |
| Houston | Butler, ETSU, SFA, Indiana, SMU, ASU, Wisconsin |
