Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | Clear number 1 in my opinion |
| Baylor | Could go either way with Villanova for number 2 / 3. Top 3 are significantly ahead of rest to start since they are proven. |
| Villanova | Lot's of talent, both returning and incoming |
| Kansas | Very close to Duke. Slightly more experience puts Kansas ahead for now |
| Duke | Not a super strong Duke team, but still a Duke team. I think we will see a lot of movement to start the season |
| Wisconsin | I doubt the badgers finish this high, but I really don't see anyone behind them that I expect to be better at this point in the season |
| Kentucky | 7-9 are all pretty close |
| Creighton | Ton of experience and returning most of a good team last year |
| Texas Tech | Huge upside but a lot of question marks. Betting that Beard gets everything working |
| Illinois | Great talent, but the team wasn't all that good last year. Miller provides the shooting they were missing though |
| Michigan State | Losing Cassius/Tillman is huge, but getting back Langford / Hauser should prevent them from falling too far |
| Tennessee | Great returning players taking the sophomore leap. Depth is a little shaky |
| Texas | I'm way higher on texas than most. There is so much talent on that team, I don't think Shaka can even ruin it |
| Louisville | Really not sure why they are so lowly rated nationally. Bring back a ton of production and have some great sophomores ready to explode |
| Virginia | Absolutely not sold on this team in the top ten. They will have a great defense, but were absolutely terrible on offense |
| Iowa | The anti-virginia. Offense is possibly #1 but awful defense will lose them a ton of games. Overrated nationally |
| North Carolina | Definitely think they can overperform this, but a lot of question marks keep them here for now |
| Houston | Returning the bulk of a good team from last year |
| Ohio State | I love the guards / wings on this team. I think the lack of a true big holds them back from the top 10 though |
| Florida State | Hamilton is a top 10 coach and they have plenty of talent |
| Rutgers | Ron Harper Jr and Geo Baker are great players and the defense could be a top ten unit |
| Oregon | Went back and forth between them and ASU for top of PAC 12. I think Oregon has more talent even losing Prichard |
| Arizona State | Great young players with a senior core. I'm not sold on them as a top 20 team though |
| Florida | 24 to 30 are all very close. I went Florida mostly because Torvik is really high on them |
| Michigan | Lives and Wagner are good wings. I think point guard holds them back though. Next 5 (no order): Purdue, Indiana, UCLA, Syracuse, LSU |
