Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Baylor | Well the Game of the Year didn't happen, but I'm sure not penalizing Baylor for it. Especially not after they beat Illinois. |
| Gonzaga | They're not gonna play for two weeks, which means all they got banged were four games they had a 99.7%+ chance to win. Iowa game's still on! |
| Villanova | Guess who feels good about keeping the Wildcats in his top five last week! |
| Iowa | Take the over on Tuesday's bout with North Carolina. Iowa should probably win, but both team could score 90. |
| Texas | I thought the Villanova game could have been a blowout in Texas' favor with a better offensive gameplan, but they still looked excellent. |
| Illinois | They hung with Baylor a good amount longer than I thought they would, and the game was closer than the final score indicates. |
| Houston | They covered against a decent SEC opponent without their head coach or starting point guard. I'm not as high as some, but I like this squad. |
| Michigan State | They're not really even trying against their lesser non-con opponents, but they beat Duke at Cameron, so I don't care. |
| North Carolina | The offense isn't as great as it looked in Game 1, but even so, a buzzer-beater had to sink them against Texas, who looks excellent. |
| Wisconsin | Oof, what a way to lose in Milwaukee. I can't penalize them too much for it though. Still looked good and start five seniors. |
| Creighton | Creighton just kinda sits here amidst the chaos. They have two fun games this week though. |
| Tennessee | This is it! The week we finally get to see a Tennessee basketball game! ...it's not until Saturday. |
| Kansas | Looked pretty awful against North Dakota State and the Kentucky win has not aged well in the slightest. |
| Duke | K, you can't demand to play the game on your home court and then lose. You just can't, lmao. Dork. |
| Texas Tech | KenPom still has these guys fifth despite the Houston game and I guess I wanna see another real game before forming true judgement. |
| West Virginia | They're basically doing exactly what they're supposed to do. Not really wowing me aside from a short stretch in the second half vs. G'Town. |
| Arizona State | Already have a conference road win somehow. 2020 is weird. |
| Oregon | Game 1s get a little bit of a nerf from me, plus they got Figueroa eligible after that game and beat Seton Hall. Jury's still out. |
| Florida State | Finally played a game and played it rather well. Let's see how they do in their two real ones this week. |
| Oklahoma State | They've got two good road wins and the near-certain #1 pick in the draft. Now let's get them unbanned from the tournament. |
| Florida | The Army game was weird but, again, I've been taking all Game 1s with a grain of salt. They look pretty great. |
| Virginia Tech | I'm not rewarding them for barely beating VMI as much as I'm punishing other teams for various reasons. The Villanova win looks great too. |
| Richmond | Let's try this again. They play Wofford, Northern Iowa, and at West Virginia this week. How will they look? |
| Louisville | You have my attention. | (Next up: Virginia(!), San Diego State, Saint Louis, Clemson, Ohio State, Marquette, Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma) |
| Michigan | Welcome back, Wolverines. No, I haven't forgotten about Oakland taking you to OT. It's just that a lot of teams around you are struggling. |
