Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | +0 Should be unanimous number 1 |
| Baylor | +0 Should be unanimous number 2 |
| Villanova | +1 Beneficiaries of Kansas getting gobsmacked. |
| Texas | +7 The eye test isn't as pretty overall, but the resume is excellent and beating the piss out of Kansas in Phog is nearly unprecedented |
| Kansas | -2 They just didn't come out ready to play against Texas. Still a fantastic team and should still be favored against Texas next time out. |
| Iowa | +1 Beating two talented B1G teams is exactly how they needed to respond this week. |
| Wisconsin | -1 A close loss to UMD is buoyed by a fantastic win against an excellent Minny team. |
| Creighton | +2 They played a game, and didn't lose. The loss to Kansas is still one of the "best losses" amongst top teams. |
| Tennessee | +0 Was very prepared to put them into the top 5 until losing to Bama. Bama is a tourney team in my eyes, and Mizzou game was dominating! |
| Michigan | +7 Undefeated in the B1G, regardless of OOC schedule, is ridiculously impressive. An excellent week this week. |
| Houston | -6 The Tulsa loss isn't terrible at all, but isn't that good either. SMU win is high quality. |
| Illinois | +0 They can come out firing like a Final Four team, or come out looking like a high first round upset alert team. Hard to gauge. |
| Rutgers | +0 If not for a monumental second half collapse against OSU, this would be a borderline top 5 team. |
| West Virginia | -6 They found out how to play winning ball w/o Oscar too late in the OU game. I think this team will be better in the long haul by his exit |
| Missouri | -1 Disheartening loss followed by an excellent win. I'm still high on the Tigers. |
| Minnesota | +11 A double digit jump even in a week they didn't go undefeated? Well two 15+ point wins against tournament teams in the B1G will do that |
| Texas Tech | -2 Still going to have to figure out where offense is going to come from when they need it. |
| Duke | +0 no games, no movement |
| Oregon | +3 Pac 12 is sneaky good. Have a chance to seriously turn heads if they can keep stacking double digit conference wins. |
| Clemson | +9 This is more of me having Clemson too low last week than a huge jump. Still, a great convincing win against FSU. |
| Arizona | +10 They had the best week of any team in basketball outside of UT. Beating a likely tourney team by 14 and previously unbeaten WSU on road |
| St. Louis | +3 Still really high on the Billikens. Even more so with how good Minnesota is looking lately. |
| Virginia Tech | +5 A 2 point win against an average team in this part of the rankings can result in a 5 place jump. |
| Florida State | -4 FSU continues to tumble but I'm not ready to drop them. |
| Florida | +7 Excellent win against LSU. Truthfully teams in spots 20-40 are separated by razor thin margins (26-30: UVA, Louisville, OSU, NW, Ok. St.) |
