Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Best team. Hands down. |
| Villanova | 2 losses against a hellish conference. They deserve more attention. |
| Duke | Loss to Notre Dame doesn't diminish a 12-game win-streak. |
| Wisconsin | These guys haven't really had a down stretch all year. Only team I see challenging Kentucky. |
| Virginia | Lost 2 of their last 3. Recency bias dropped them for me. |
| Arizona | If it weren't for the pesky bad losses, these guys would be No. 2. |
| Kansas | Even when they play bad, they win against good competition. Most top 25 wins of any team. |
| Maryland | Looking at their resume, they're a lot better than I thought. |
| Iowa State | Tough team. Passes both the eye test and the numbers test. |
| Oklahoma | The Big 12 has the top 3 3-seeds. All of these teams are so evenly matched. |
| Baylor | It's like 3 versions of the same team, but all of them could beat you in different ways. |
| Notre Dame | They're trending up after going 2-1 against Duke on the season. |
| Gonzaga | Have you actually looked at their resume? They pass the eye test, but they should when half their games are against to bottom 200. |
| North Carolina | Not a lot of wins in the regular season against the top 25, but all of a sudden they're on an upswing. Watch out for these guys. |
| SMU | Larry Brown has made these guys pretty dangerous. |
| Northern Iowa | Another team that passes the eye test, but of course they do. They didn't play anyone. |
| West Virginia | Tough team. They're the top 5-seed in my book. |
| Arkansas | The SEC really isn't as bad as people say. Arkansas has put together a decent season. |
| Providence | The Big East's 2nd tier, after Villanova, all clusters together. Kind of like the Big 12. |
| Georgetown | Basically just a clusterfuck from here til 22. |
| Butler | Cluster. Fuck. |
| Michigan State | These next 3 teams are virtually the same, numbers-wise. These guys played a tougher schedule. |
| Oregon | These guys swept Utah, but had some ugly losses. |
| Utah | These guys have better losses, but they got swept by Oregon. |
| Louisville | Great win vs. Virginia. But the numbers on these guys have been overhyped all season. |
