Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | (-) This week was pretty wild, and as a result, there are some big moves and some reshufflings in my poll. |
| Baylor | (-) Putting the drops here because I didn't have enough room farther down. [DROPPED: 20. Oregon, 25. Clemson] |
| Villanova | - |
| Michigan | +1 |
| Texas | +1 |
| Houston | +2 |
| Iowa | (-3) Iowa lost to Indiana at home despite Garza's 28 points. They didn't play all that well. |
| Alabama | (+14) A leap this huge is due to Alabama's entire resume thus far, and a correction for underrating them for so long. This team is GOOD. |
| Texas Tech | +2 |
| Virginia | (+7) There were a lot of losses, and Virginia was almost one of them. But UVA is on fire right now, recently winning against GT. |
| Ohio State | (-2) Ohio State got swept by Purdue, but followed it up with a win over Wisconsin on the road. |
| Wisconsin | (+3) Wisconsin is moving up after losing at home. They're better than I ranked them last week, and I'm shuffling them up. |
| West Virginia | - |
| St. Louis | - |
| Florida State | (+6) After a stumble in late December, FSU has been on fire. They won both of their games over Louisville and Clemson this week. |
| Creighton | (-4) They lost their 2nd in a row but rebounded. Those 2 losses are likely just a small stumble, but other teams are better right now. |
| Missouri | (+6) Missouri gets a big jump here after beating down Tennessee on the road in a revenge game. |
| Illinois | - |
| Kansas | (-9) January has been rough for Kansas. They're now 2-4 this month and their stock is dropping fast. |
| Tennessee | (-13) This is still likely a solid team, but it's not a top 10 one, which is clear after a blow out loss to Florida and a loss to Mizzou. |
| Oklahoma State | (-2) A Baylor loss is fine, really. Especially considering OKST was severely undermanned. |
| Oklahoma | (NR) Oklahoma just beat Kansas, which is pretty good. This team was already fringe top-25 with a previous win over WVU and reasonable losses |
| Minnesota | (-7) Unbeatable-at-home Minnesota just lost to Maryland by 14. Not the best. They'll stay top-25, their wins are hard to argue with. |
| Boise State | (NR) Boise's been on my radar for awhile now, and teams around here losing opened up the door for them. The USU games will be huge. |
| Virginia Tech | (-1) Despite a huge loss to Syracuse, VT still is deserving of a ranking, especially after teams hovering around here lost. |
