Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Baylor | +1, doesn't really matter at this point, just feel they've beaten better teams than Gonzaga |
| Gonzaga | -1, interchangeable with Baylor |
| Michigan | +1, Benefiting from not playing |
| Ohio State | +3, Continues to beat very good teams even when down players, impressive top to botom |
| Villanova | -2, L to a St Johns team that is very hot which honestly isn't that bad of a loss |
| Houston | -1, Hopefully the loss to East Carolina is more of a wake up call than an actual sign of an overranked Houston team |
| Illinois | +9, said it last week that Illinois will have a good chance to climb the rankings after a cold streak |
| Texas Tech | +4, pass the eyeball test and compete even in losses despite being a young team w/ transfers (& have McClung) |
| Texas | -3, Still might be too high for a team that has been losing more than winning but have the star power to make up for it |
| West Virginia | +1, beat Kansas and I can't justify any other team over them at this point, a little surprised to see them this high though |
| Oklahoma | -2, get ranked top ten then immediately lose but still look like the real deal |
| Virginia | +1, beat sneaky competitive teams in NC State and Pitt this week |
| Missouri | +8, Like Tech they pass the eyeball test and just compete for 40 minutes. W over Alabama is great for them |
| Alabama | --, Similar to Oklahoma may have been ranked too high but their resume justifies it and they compete (see Missouri almost comeback) |
| Creighton | -7, L to Georgetown and I just had them too high previously, still good but haven't been beating teams by the margins they should |
| Iowa | -6, idk what to say, they've been slipping for a while and are now 1-4 in last 5 |
| Tennessee | -2, L to Ole Miss is not good but can turn it on as we have seen. Inconsistency is a big issue for them |
| Florida State | +1, went up a spot without playing this past week so good for them |
| USC | NR, atop the PAC12 currently and definitely deserved after beating UCLA |
| Virginia Tech | -2, L to an alright Pitt team and barely beat Miami, they have a good team but struggle to put it together sometimes |
| Oklahoma State | +1, Using the Texas W as a better judgement than the TCU L, the team can play with anyone but whether they want to is a better question |
| Wisconsin | -2, really falling of the edge, of course an L to Illinois isn't the worst but still has been struggling recently |
| Florida | -7, May have been too high for me last week after a WVU win followed by a L to South Carolina |
| Loyola Chicago | NR, 14th in Kenpom and has continued to win, should put up a good fight for MVC first place with Drake (Loyola currently in 1st) |
| Rutgers | NR, others considered: Colorado, Purdue, Louisville, Indiana. Rutgers had slight edge with more impressive recent win |
