Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Maryland | The best combination of talent, experience, and depth in the country. |
| North Carolina | No Marcus Paige, but still ridiculously talented and experienced. |
| Virginia | Pack line defense will always be elite with Tony Bennett. Now to see if the Cavs can play offense without Justin Anderson. |
| Wichita State | I'm very impressed by Ron Baker and FVV. Lots of senior leadership and solid role players. |
| Kansas | I would rank them #3 if Cheick Diallo were cleared. Perry Ellis could pass for Uncle Drew. |
| Duke | Coach K is the best in the game, but no Tyus Jones, Justice Winslow, or Jahlil Okafor this year. |
| Villanova | Jay Wright's team should not be overlooked. They are very good and very experienced. |
| Kentucky | Kentucky usually takes some time to gel. I'm not sold they should be a top 5 team with so many new pieces. |
| Michigan State | Eron Harris and Denzel Valentine should be all conference type players on a deep and experienced team. |
| Iowa State | You don't just lose the Mayor and stay a top 10 team, unless you have Monte Morris, Georges Niang, and Jameel Mckay. |
| Oklahoma | Haven't seen this team play yet, but I'm a big Buddy Hield fan. |
| Gonzaga | They lost half a game against Pitt on a slippery boat, but I won't knock them for it. |
| California | I see Cal with Rabb and Brown and Tyrone "Smoochie" Wallace as a West Coast Kentucky. |
| Indiana | If the addition of Thomas Bryant gives them any defense, this team will be formidable. |
| Arizona | My name is right next to Titus on the list. Now is as good a time as any to mention Zeus 'Zeus' Zeuzeuski. |
| UConn | UCONN is going to sneak up on people. Brimah, Gibbs, and Purvis make a very good and experienced corps. |
| Baylor | I love when the star players are seniors. This team is led by two studs with Gathers and Prince. |
| Cincinnati | Tough defensive team and I think they've gone underrated this preseason. |
| Notre Dame | Jerian Grant is gone, so let's see how Jackson, Auguste, and Vasturia hold up. |
| Butler | Just watched them score 71 in a half. That's some delicious cupcake. |
| Utah | Delon Wright is a big loss. I'm a bit skeptical of the Utes this year, but Jacob Poetl keeps them in this. |
| Purdue | Questions at PG and with outside shooting, but front court play and defense will give them a high floor. |
| West Virginia | Press Virginia could struggle if the refs call things tighter this year. 30 second shot clock works in their favor though. |
| SMU | They can be in my poll, just not the post season. |
| Providence | Gimme Kris Dunn all day. |
