Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | (-) Wild week, but it was so consistently wild that not much changed aside from a few big moves and a bunch of little ones. |
| Michigan | (+1) Michigan was already on the same level as Zaga/Baylor, and with a Baylor loss, Michigan rises. This team is good, the sky is blue. |
| Baylor | (-1) Looks like Covid pause didn't treat Baylor well. They beat the lowly Iowa St by a mere 5 points then lost their first game to Kansas. |
| West Virginia | (+5) If there's a non-Michigan winner this week, it's WVU. They got beat up some lower B12 competition while watching everyone else lose. |
| Illinois | (-1) Illinois recovered after a bad loss to Michigan St, with a win over Wisconsin without Ayo. |
| Ohio State | (-2) The loss to Michigan St was bad, but then OSU got blown out by Iowa at home. This is still a top tier team and all, but that's rough. |
| Alabama | (-) I didn't really see a way/reason to drop Alabama here. Bad week for them, but they did win the SEC and everyone else lost too. |
| Houston | (+5) Houston is back in the top 10 after effortlessly dispatching Western Kentucky and South Florida by a combined 70 points. |
| Iowa | (+1) A blowout loss to Michigan was rectified by a blowout win over Ohio State. It's worth noting Iowa's defense against OSU, giving up 57. |
| Oklahoma State | (+9) I've made it no secret that I think this team is GOOD, and they just put together a fantastic set of wins over TTU and OU. |
| Oklahoma | (-5) Terrible week for Oklahoma after a loss to Kansas State (who is 7-19, by the way) and a loss to OkSt. Overall resume saves them here. |
| Kansas | (+2) Sure, Kansas lost to Texas (only by 3 and in OT) but then they handed Baylor their first loss. Covid pause or not, huge win. |
| Arkansas | (+5) Arkansas is a quick riser and put together another good week, blowing out Alabama and solidly beating the previously-ranked LSU. |
| Florida State | (-3) There are worse losses than FSU's road loss to UNC, but it still hurts and it still counts. |
| Creighton | (-3) Creighton lost, that sucks, but everyone else lost too and they still have good wins. Consistent chaos leads to consistent explanations |
| Villanova | (-8) Yes, a big drop for one loss. But to put in perspective, what has this team done since beating Texas? Top 20 for now. |
| Texas Tech | (-2) OT loss to Oklahoma St then a good win over Texas. Neutral-ish week for TTU. |
| San Diego State | (+5) SDSU just swept the second-best team in the MWC, Boise State. |
| Texas | (+2) Texas needed a good win. And they got it in a OT win over Kansas. Loss to TTU, but I had this team too low last week. No panic needed. |
| Virginia Tech | (-3) Hey look, another top 25 that lost, wow. In VT's case it was a blowout loss to Georgia Tech- at home. Not ideal. |
| Virginia | (-4) That's loss number 3 in a row for Virginia. Teams that lose a lot in a short amount of time scare me as I've found out, UVA included. |
| Loyola Chicago | (+2) [DROPPED: 20. USC, 22. LSU, 25. Oregon] |
| Purdue | (NR) I had them in my next 5. They're pretty good, fourth in the B1G with a 11-6 record. |
| Colorado | (NR) CU just beat, in my opinion, the two best teams in the Pac-12 in back-to-back games. Quite good. |
| St. Bonaventure | (NR) It's time to rank an A10 team again. The Bonnies are 13-3 and are the A10's biggest hope for an at-large spot. |
