Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | (-) Gonzaga wrapped up their undefeated season with a nice comeback over BYU. |
| Baylor | (-) [DROPPED: 21. Virginia Tech, 23. Colorado, 24. Oklahoma, 25. Oregon] |
| Illinois | (+1) Most people did this last week, I didn't, but after Illinois won the B1G, it should be unanimous. |
| Michigan | -1 |
| Iowa | - |
| Alabama | - |
| Oklahoma State | (+1) They may have lost the B12 championship to Texas, but they put together an amazing run. (A 4-seed? Really?) |
| Houston | (-1) Houston did Houston things and won the AAC championship game by nearly 40, and are merely getting leapfrogged by OkSt. |
| Ohio State | (+1) A great run to the B1G championship game- only losing in OT to Illinois, is very good. |
| Kansas | (+1) KU beat Oklahoma then unfortunately had their regular season ended by Covid. This team had a real shot to win the B12. |
| Texas | (+2) Texas won the B12 after a win over TTU, a no-contest over KU, and a win over OkSt in the 'ship. |
| West Virginia | -3 |
| Arkansas | -1 |
| San Diego State | (-) SDSU won the MWC, as expected, ending their season at 23-4. |
| Loyola Chicago | (-) Loyola also won their conference, the MVC, also as expected, ending their season at 24-4. |
| Purdue | (+1) Lots of losses in this range allow Purdue to hop up 1 spot after a forgivable loss to Ohio St. |
| Virginia | (+5) UVA beat Syracuse then had their regular season ended to Covid. Could they have won the ACC? Yep. |
| BYU | (NR) So this is belated, given the large rise. BYU beat Pepperdine then gave Gonzaga a great fight before falling. A good week overall. |
| Florida State | (-3) A win over UNC then a loss in the ACC 'ship to Ga Tech warrant a small drop. |
| Texas Tech | (-) TTU is the only team in my rankings with 10 losses. That alone may turn people off, but I think this team is still really good. |
| Georgia Tech | (NR) Georgia Tech continued their super-hot streak all the way, winning the ACC over FSU. |
| Villanova | (-4) Villanova, defending BE champs, lost to Georgetown by 1 in the tourney. That was/is a bad loss. |
| Creighton | (-4) This might be a little harsh after the win over UConn, but Creighton fit here. They got killed by Georgetown in the BE championship. |
| LSU | (NR) LSU put together a great run in the SEC tourney, only losing by 1 to Alabama in the championship game. |
| UConn | (NR) UConn hops in based on their 26th-team status after four drops. |
