Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Gonzaga | This feels like it could be pretty close to unanimous. Lots of talent here. The Timme/Holmgren combo will be a treat. |
| UCLA | I don't know how sold I am- this team got very hot at the right time last year. But do return a wealth of talent from that team. |
| Kansas | Another B12 title almost feels inevitable |
| Michigan | Juwan Howard has been superb so far, and has shown he can recruit too. |
| Villanova | |
| Texas | Beard has a squad here. Can they hang with Kansas? (and avoid random b12 losses that KU is so good at avoiding) |
| Baylor | They do lose Butler + Mitchell, but some respect for the returning champs. Scott Drew officially a good coach |
| Purdue | |
| Duke | Looking to send Coach K off to the sunset on a high note |
| Memphis | This team has the talent. Penny Hardaway hasn't yet shown big things with the on court results, but the pieces are in place. |
| Houston | Hot off a F4 run, Sampson has this team performing each year |
| Illinois | This almost feels low. Cockburn is still very very good. |
| Alabama | It's preseason, these 3 SEC teams could be in any order |
| Arkansas | Some strong coaches (dare I say elite?) have been rising in the SEC |
| Kentucky | Last years struggles are slightly concerning, but with how Cal pumps talent through the program, can easily climb back up |
| Ohio State | |
| North Carolina | Will be interesting to see how a new coach does. Brought in some fun transfers. Looking forward to watching this team. |
| Florida State | I will not doubt Leonard Hamilton. Feels like they've been overlooked in preseason recently to proceed to climb the ranks |
| Oregon | Speaking of overlooked, Pac12 showed last tourney they deserve more respect on their name |
| Tennessee | |
| USC | |
| Maryland | |
| Texas Tech | |
| Virginia | They might be raw, but a Tony Bennett team will have disciplined defense. And that will keep them in games. |
| Drake | honorable mentions: auburn, loyola, MSU, UConn |
