RankTeamReason
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Logo North Carolina No reason to doubt the Tar Heels yet.
Duke University Logo Duke I would only have the Blue Devils as an underdog to the Tar Heels.
University of Kansas Logo Kansas Dominated Northern Colorado, look like a very good team. Game against MSU will be a major test.
University of Kentucky Logo Kentucky This team has to beat Albany by more than 13. They looked much better against NJIT.
University of Maryland, College Park Logo Maryland Looked very good against Mount St. Mary's. I expect big things from this squad.
University of Virginia Logo Virginia Dismantled Morgan State very easily. Looking to be a contender in the ACC, as per usual.
Wichita State University Logo Wichita State Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker will be must-have performers for the Shockers to stay in this portion of the rankings.
Iowa State University Logo Iowa State Looked decent against a middling Colorado team. Slightly disappointed, but I still believe there's a lot of talent in Ames.
Villanova University Logo Villanova The Wildcats absolutely dominated Fairleigh Dickinson, not that impressive in itself, but the team looked really good as they did it.
University of Oklahoma Logo Oklahoma This team didn't play, so I just shifted them according to the ebb and flow of the results around them.
Michigan State University Logo Michigan State The game against Kansas is going to be a great test of both the Spartans and the Jayhawks.
Gonzaga University Logo Gonzaga Didn't look all that great against Pitt in the one half of basketball. Of course, the court was in terrible condition.
University of Arizona Logo Arizona They looked good, but not great against Pacific. They still got the win and are a contender, though.
University of California, Berkeley Logo California Cal looked very strong against Rice, and that type of play should get them far.
Vanderbilt University Logo Vanderbilt The Commodores look to be a very good team, even if Austin Peay isn't a top-tier opponent.
Indiana University Bloomington Logo Indiana The Hoosiers should be very good, especially if Yogi Ferrell plays like he has in the past.
University of Connecticut Logo UConn Maine isn't good, but winning by 44 is still very impressive.
University of Utah Logo Utah Southern Utah still isn't that great of a team, and Utah should be winning by more than 11 against the Thunderbirds.
Baylor University Logo Baylor Dismantling Stephen F. Austin is a feat I consider impressive.
Purdue University Logo Purdue This squad is looking increasingly dangerous.
Butler University Logo Butler Doubling up a team that scored 71 is insane. The Bulldogs are looking great.
University of Notre Dame Logo Notre Dame The Fighting Irish just didn't impress me quite as much as the other teams above them.
University of Cincinnati Logo Cincinnati They looked OK against W. Carolina, but they absolutely dominated Robert Morris, a sign of the talent on this team, I think.
Louisiana State University Logo LSU Not the best of performances against McNeese State.
West Virginia University Logo West Virginia Looked very strong against Northern Kentucky.
