Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Duke | Most impressive win(s) so far. |
| Purdue | Arguably the most impressive looking team so far. |
| Gonzaga | Tough loss, but still easily top 3. |
| Baylor | Finally looked somewhat mortal this week, but this team is still ridiculously strong. |
| UCLA | Can't wait to see this team with Riley. |
| Kentucky | Even though it never looked bad, that Duke loss looks a lot better now and that is the only blemish here. |
| Villanova | Led late against two teams in the top 5. Just have to figure out how to close (or to find a 7th man) |
| Kansas | Not a great loss against Dayton, but the Michigan State win looks better now. Kansas will be fine. |
| Arizona | Not sure i see them as the 9th best team, but the Wildcats have been rolling. |
| Texas | Texas is an interesting case, but all of the pieces are there. |
| Arkansas | Nowhere to go but up for the Hogs after staying unbeaten. |
| BYU | Have to reward wins. And BYU has a few solid ones (and no losses). |
| Houston | Tough loss against Wisconsin but Houston has impressed me nonetheless. |
| Auburn | For my money, the most impressive looking team in Atlantis. |
| Florida | Florida has been incredibly surprising with a stout defense leading to an undefeated start. |
| Iowa State | While Florida has been surprising, no one has been more surprising than Iowa State. Incredible start. |
| UConn | Neck and neck with Auburn, but honestly ranks 9-17 are dart throws at this point in the season. |
| Memphis | Time will tell if that Iowa State game is a monumental let down or a temporary set back. Memphis has the talent though, that much is obvious |
| USC | Still trying to figure this team out, but they look solid so far. Can't wait for conference play to see if the Trojans are for real again. |
| Alabama | Bama feels like a team who could beat anyone but lose a game to someone like Iona. Wait. |
| Wisconsin | Maui champs. Could be even higher. |
| Seton Hall | Tough loss against Ohio State, but they have played well all season. |
| Ohio State | Big win against Seton Hall. Michigan probably belongs here, but hey, they don't have a good win yet. |
| LSU | LSU with a defense is a scary thought, but they haven't looked like world beaters either. |
| Texas Tech | Undefeated. We'll see how long they can maintain that. |
