Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Win over Duke gets them to #1 |
| Michigan State | Win over Kansas gets them to #2 |
| Maryland | Unlike the Top 2, hasn't had a true quality win yet, but they're a good team and Georgetown is no cupcake. |
| Villanova | Another quality team who has yet to be truly tested. |
| Arizona | See #4 |
| Gonzaga | Ditto |
| Kansas | Loss to Michigan State hurts them, but not much. |
| Iowa State | Second best team in the Big 12, which is a competitive conference. They could go far. |
| Oklahoma | Another good decent team. |
| Duke | Lost to UK by 11, which wouldn't drop them too much by itself. Then they barely beat VCU and Georgetown, who they should easy handle. |
| Virginia | I don't care if it's a road game, you need to beat George Washington if you want to stay in the Top 10 |
| Indiana | Good team out of Big 10, possible sleeper |
| Notre Dame | I like this Notre Dame team. They have a potential to go far this year. |
| North Carolina | That loss to UNI hurts a lot. Let's see if it's just a fluke. |
| California | Good team out of Pac-12, a real sleeper. |
| Miami (FL) | Wins over Utah and Butler - impressive. |
| UConn | Strong wins against bad teams. Will move up if they play well in Atlantis. |
| GW | Impressive win over Virginia, but some other games were too close. |
| Purdue | Quality Big 10 team, another sleeper out of there |
| Xavier | They beat Michigan. That counts for something. |
| Vanderbilt | Good team out of SEC, don't forget about them just because of Kentucky |
| West Virginia | Don't forget about the Mountaineers either. |
| Cincinnati | Blown out all opponents but none were good teams. Butler game in a couple weeks is first real test. |
| Northern Iowa | Win over UNC is huge, but to be ranked higher, they can't lose to Colorado State. |
| Western Illinois | Win over Wisconsin is impressive still a week later. Don't ignore them just yet. |
