Clarinetist22's Ballot for Week 14 of 2021-22| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Gonzaga
|
These rankings are every much about the actual “strength” of their team is trends are. No one deserves the top spot than dominant Gonzaga. |
| 2 |
Kentucky
|
NPOY candidate? Check. Big win over Alabama? Check. |
| 3 |
Kansas
|
Same as above, but they lose points because they were home. Still a dominant win over Baylor. |
| 4 |
Auburn
|
This is a very good team, probably a one seed, but after that scare against Georgia, they’re just not the number one in the country anymore. |
| 5 |
Duke
|
Wow, that was a thrashing of UNC. |
| 6 |
Arizona
|
They’ve been a fantastic basketball team all year, but two signature wins seal the deal on these guys. They’re for real. |
| 7 |
Purdue
|
As an Illini fan, it’s always fun to see you make Michigan your Bichigan. The Ivey + Edey combo could lead them deep into march. |
| 8 |
Houston
|
They’re just a less dominant Gonzaga. As long as they don’t lose anytime soon, they’ll be fine. |
| 9 |
Illinois
|
Call me biased, I don’t care. They just beat two tournament teams by double digits, and Cockburn looks like the next NPOY. |
| 10 |
Baylor
|
In all fairness to Baylor, that wasn’t a bad loss, but getting crushed never looks good. |
| 11 |
Texas Tech
|
Not losing in the Big 12 is enough to move up a few spots. |
| 12 |
UCLA
|
Yikes, was that 3-OT loss to Arizona painful to watch(I watched all three). They’ll bounce back though. |
| 13 |
Ohio State
|
Only one decently-convincing win, but everyone else lost, so, I don’t know. |
| 14 |
Providence
|
A very solid 2-0 week, and more importantly, I couldn’t find anyone else to take your spot. |
| 15 |
Tennessee
|
If you keep winning, you’ll move up. Same logic as OSU and Providence. |
| 16 |
Texas
|
You get a big cushion for being in the Big 12. A 22 point win is worth more than a 13 point loss on the road. Good luck against Kansas. |
| 17 |
Villanova
|
A senior team with several big wins. A small bump in Milwaukee won’t trip them up, but it will trip up their rankings. |
| 18 |
Marquette
|
Hear me out here: beating Nova is a true feat(that was maybe 2-3 spots, the rest was because who else was I gonna put there?) |
| 19 |
UConn
|
Hear me out here part two: losing to Nova should’t really count as a loss, especially at home. |
| 20 |
Murray State
|
I was a little weary to put them here after hearing Ja Morant doesn’t play there anymore, but 12-0 is still 12-0. Remember, they beat #18. |
| 21 |
Wisconsin
|
Wisconsin is a fraud, there’s no other way around it. A terrible second half showing in Champaign and a lack of offense in Happy Valley. |
| 22 |
Michigan State
|
Michigan St is also a fraud. You just can’t lose to Rutgers by 20+ points, you just can’t. |
| 23 |
Ohio
|
They’re absolutely tearing up the MAC, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw ANOTHER major upset in March(remember Virginia?). |
| 24 |
Loyola Chicago
|
I see a theme, where they’re somehow a always atop the Missouri Valley, so why not? |
| 25 |
Saint Mary's
|
Xavier, Iowa St, USC, Alabama, and Indiana all lost, so here you go. A second place finish in the WCC seems appropriate. |
