Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Cleary number 1 so far. |
| Kansas | Getting Diallo is huge. Selden is on fire, got a good win vs Vandy. |
| Michigan State | Just beat a really good Providence team, and they close games nicely. |
| Villanova | I've been pretty impressed early, more so than with Maryland. |
| Maryland | They've had a lot of struggles against teams they should handle easily. |
| Oklahoma | They've looked pretty good all year. |
| Iowa State | Probably should have beaten Illinois by more but they're explosive. |
| Duke | Last two games have looked nice, esp against Utah State. |
| North Carolina | Once they get Paige they should go up. |
| Virginia | The offense is good, which is scary considering their defense. |
| Purdue | Very hot start, helped by lots of other teams losing. |
| Gonzaga | Tempted to drop them more, but they're better than Zona and the rest to me. |
| Arizona | Also tempted to drop them more, but I think they would beat every team from 14-25 at least 6 out of 10 times on a neutral court. |
| Oregon | They have looked solid all year, good win vs Baylor. |
| Vanderbilt | Played Kansas very well. |
| West Virginia | Beat Richmond and SDSU, two pesky teams. |
| Xavier | Big time wins over USC and Dayton. |
| Cincinnati | Undefeated with a solid win over GW. |
| Miami (FL) | Confusing loss to Northeastern but they've flattened everyone else with 2 wins vs teams that were ranked at the time. |
| Baylor | Good start, only loss is to a good Oregon team. |
| Providence | Played MSU pretty well. Beat Arizona. |
| UConn | Had two tough losses. Looked pretty good in those losses. |
| Texas A&M | Good wins over Texas and Gonzaga, loss to Cuse isn't a huge deal to me. |
| SMU | Have not done anything incredible yet but still off to a good start. |
| Notre Dame | Two very close losses to Monmouth and Bama should not hurt them a ton. |
