Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | UK is the #1 team until they lose, or somebody surpasses them |
| Villanova | You can only play those on your schedule. Nova is winning by double-digits |
| Virginia | Best 1 loss team in NCAA. Dominant outside of their loss |
| Michigan State | Had an impressive weekend and could move up more if they beat Louisville |
| Kansas | Also having an impressive season despite not having Diallo yet |
| Purdue | Has been very good so far. Gonna be tested by Pitt in Pittsburgh |
| Duke | Probably victimized by the expectations game |
| Oklahoma | Has had a pretty good year, although only 4 games so far |
| North Carolina | Has all the potential to move back up if Paige returns |
| Louisville | Similar to Villanova, only Nova is better so far. Certain (alleged) scandals are dampening their rank overall |
| Gonzaga | Could drop them more for losing a game. But they bounced back vs UConn |
| Xavier | Had a pretty good tournament weekend, reminding the world of the Dayton animosity towards Xavier |
| Cincinnati | Good start to season, could have moved ahead of Xavier if Cincy did better vs Neb/GW |
| Iowa State | They've beaten everybody by double-digits, except for Colorado (at a neutral site). Figures |
| West Virginia | Has beaten a variety of non-major schools so far! |
| Vanderbilt | Had a pretty good run, but ran into Kansas hard |
| Miami (FL) | nobody expects Northeastern |
| Maryland | Their most decisive victory over a known school is Rhode Island. Didn't exactly impress vs GTown or Rider or IL State |
| Arizona | Looked great until Santa Clara. Then lost to Providence to cap it off |
| Oregon | Didn't really do anything since last Monday, but could move up since other teams lost |
| Baylor | Beating virtually any non-major "State" school they play! |
| Texas A&M | Had a pretty good run this week |
| Syracuse | Beat ranked teams on back to back days! |
| Iowa | Probably an argument against ranking 25 teams. Maybe Iowa is the best 2 loss team? |
| Florida | UF is probably ranked because Valparaiso and Notre Dame lost on Sat/Sun. It's easier to rank 20 than 25 |
