Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Michigan State | Valentine, Izzo, and wins over Kansas and Providence boost them to #1. |
| Kentucky | Looked good against Duke and have avoided the upsets causing chaos throughout the rest of the Top 25. |
| Maryland | Maryland will be tested by North Carolina. Their ranking is based on hype right now. |
| Kansas | Beat Vanderbilt in Maui and now have Cheick Diallo. |
| Iowa State | The win over Colorado looks better now. |
| Villanova | Have won big in all of their games so far. St. Joe's should be a good test for the Wildcats. |
| Duke | They have pulled out close games after losing to Kentucky. Beat previously undefeated Utah State by 33. |
| Oklahoma | Another team with preseason hype lacking a big win so far (Wisconsin? Ehhh..). The Villanova game in Hawaii should be awesome! |
| North Carolina | The Tar Heels should bounce back when Marcus Paige returns. |
| Purdue | This year's Purdue is the store-brand version of last year's Kentucky. Giants around the post and good shooters outside. |
| Virginia | Bounced back in the Charleston Classic after losing @GW. |
| Syracuse | "What were you saying, NCAA?" - Syracuse at the Battle for Atlantis |
| Gonzaga | Lost a close won against Texas A&M but beat a good UConn team. |
| Cincinnati | Beat two teams looking to surprise this year (GW and Nebraska). |
| Xavier | Destroyed Dayton when everybody expected the game to be a close one. |
| Providence | Michigan State v. Providence may be the best game of the season so far. Wins over Arizona and Evansville aren't too bad either. |
| Oregon | Oregon has beat Baylor and Valparaiso at home, and is still undefeated. Good enough for me! |
| West Virginia | West Virginia is undefeated, winning big, and ready to surprise Virginia and the Big XII. |
| Texas A&M | Lost to Syracuse in the final of the Battle for Atlantis, but defeated Gonzaga and rival Texas along the way. |
| Miami (FL) | Miami looked like the were going to demolish everyone in their path, and then lost to NORTHEASTERN. What? |
| GW | Beat a really good Virginia team at home, then nearly beat Cincinnati on a neutral floor. |
| Baylor | Lost a close road game against Oregon, and you can't hate them for that. |
| Vanderbilt | Lost to a weakened, but still very good, Kansas team. Should be fighting at the top of the SEC this year. |
| Arizona | Preseason hype and previous seasons say that Arizona should be able to turn this one around. |
| Florida | The Gators looked good against Purdue for 30 minutes, beat a OK St. Joe's team, and handled everyone else so far. (No 2-loss teams, sorry!) |
