Shaudius's Ballot for Week 5 of 2015-16| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Michigan State
|
No team has looked better against good competition than Michigan State. |
| 2 |
Kansas
|
Despite struggling with Harvard. Kansas's win against a very good Vandy team and challenging Michigan State without Diallo is enough for now |
| 3 |
North Carolina
|
I'm prepared to chalk the Northern Iowa game to no Marcus Paige and forgive early season road losses to decent teams. |
| 4 |
Maryland
|
Maryland has struggled at times but looks alright for times at the Dean Dome beat a good GTown team(better than their loss to Radford shows) |
| 5 |
Duke
|
There's no shame in losing to UK neutral court. Beat good GTown and VCU teams NC. |
| 6 |
Purdue
|
Others have shown how tough OOC road wins are to come by, Purdue did it against a good Pitt and handled an under the radar good Florida team |
| 7 |
Kentucky
|
UK, however, did not so good against UCLA. Can't ding too much for tough OOC road losses but the way they did it raises questions. |
| 8 |
Xavier
|
Putting a lot of faith in their Dayton blowout and their win at Michigan(tough OOC wins are hard to come by), Purdue and UK wins are better. |
| 9 |
Vanderbilt
|
There's no shame in losing to Kansas. Ranked above OU because of this game despite Vanderbilt losing. |
| 10 |
Oklahoma
|
Not prepared to ranked OU higher until they show me how they play versus more than just Wisconsin. |
| 11 |
Iowa State
|
Same thing, haven't played anyone yet. These next few weeks will be really telling. |
| 12 |
Villanova
|
Kenpom loves them, they're going to need to show me how they play versus a top 50 squad before I'm ready to buy in fully. |
| 13 |
Providence
|
The win versus Arizona was big as was going into a decent RI team and eeking out a win(something UVA couldn't do versus GW). |
| 14 |
Arizona
|
Likewise the win at Gonzaga was huge. No shame in the Providence loss. |
| 15 |
Virginia
|
Lost at GW in a true road test, but beat OSU in another one(its always hard to win on the road even if OSU isn't as good as we thought). |
| 16 |
West Virginia
|
Suffers from the same problems as Iowa State and Oklahoma only worse. Not prepared to rank above some one loss teams that have played harder |
| 17 |
Butler
|
The win at Cinci was bigger win than most have(edges them over Louisville) but the loss to Miami prevents them from being much higher. |
| 18 |
Louisville
|
Like UVA lost their only real test so far and it was better, but the rest of their slate has not given me enough to rank them higher. |
| 19 |
Cincinnati
|
Got Butlered, haven't played anyone else of substances besides GW, but they won(unlike UVA but it wasn't in the Smith Center for Cincy) |
| 20 |
Syracuse
|
UConn and TAMU are still good wins(despite the later losing at ASU). Wisconsin at home is a tough loss, GTown away is explainable. |
| 21 |
Gonzaga
|
Lost to TAMU and at home versus a good Arizona team, beat UConn. A tougher schedule than some teams ahead, but they lost the games. |
| 22 |
UConn
|
Losses to Syracuse and Gonzaga don't carry shame but that's too many losses against top 25 teams above them to rank them higher this early. |
| 23 |
Miami (FL)
|
Hard to figure out what to do with this team, its almost too early to allow bad losses at home, but did beat Butler and Utah |
| 24 |
Baylor
|
Big win at home versus Vandy, added some much needed legitimacy. |
| 25 |
SMU
|
Unbeaten but really hasn't played anyone, where have we heard this before. Still, there's not too many teams behind them also unbeaten. |
