filthysven's Ballot for Week 3 of 2014-15| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Kentucky
|
Not as impressed as everyone else, but that's only to say I don't think the Wildcats are untouchable. They have the best win of the season. |
| 2 |
Duke
|
Duke have shown good balance, good interior game, and play surprisingly mature for their youth. The few weaknesses shown so far are minor. |
| 3 |
Arizona
|
Arizona has shown some weaknesses, but also some of the potential that has everyone so high on them. They face a step up in Maui though. |
| 4 |
Wisconsin
|
Wisconsin has yet to face a real challenge, so my opinion hasn't yet changed on them. |
| 5 |
Virginia
|
Virginia has carried over last year's stingy style of play to this year, and are looking good doing it too. |
| 6 |
Gonzaga
|
I know many of you will think this is reactionary, but I was very high on them to begin with just too nervous to put them so far ahead. |
| 7 |
Texas
|
Texas lost a star and then went on to beat two legitimate teams by a good margin. This team is for real folks. |
| 8 |
Wichita State
|
The game against Memphis was sloppy on both sides, but Wichita was able to clean up eventually and prevent Memphis from doing the same. |
| 9 |
North Carolina
|
Another team without too much challenge so far. They look good, but we will get a better feel for them when they play Butler. |
| 10 |
Louisville
|
Looked good against Minnesota in a very early game, but we will learn a bit more when they face another (and better) Big 10 team in OSU. |
| 11 |
San Diego State
|
Big jump for winning a dogfight against a very good opponent. Fisher has his team playing great defense, but who can they turn to to score? |
| 12 |
VCU
|
Much like Louisville, they beat up on an okay team super early, but have a much better test coming up in Villanova. |
| 13 |
Iowa State
|
Iowa St has looked decent, but they've only played two games neither were against powerhouses. I will revisit this when they play more. |
| 14 |
Michigan State
|
No moral victories? I'm not so sure about that. MSU impressed vs Duke, and have enough stars left to do damage and always threaten. |
| 15 |
Florida
|
Losing this early is bound to hit hard, there's just not much sample size. Following it up with being pushed to overtime by UL Monroe? Ouch |
| 16 |
Kansas
|
The opposite of Gonzaga. I was never quite sold on KU, but gave in to peer pressure in the rankings. But it's a long season, not over yet |
| 17 |
Villanova
|
Was waiting to see them in action before I bought into the hype, and unfortunately the action I saw was getting pushed hard by Bucknell. |
| 18 |
Ohio State
|
The win over Marquette has already lost some luster, but they have looked decent in what they've done. Not much else to report. |
| 19 |
Michigan
|
I'm warming up to Michigan based on what I've seen and the discussions I had with UM fans last time round. Plus, lots of teams dropped here |
| 20 |
Oklahoma
|
A loss at Creighton isn't the worst thing in the world, but again early season losses are tough to justify with so few games to draw on. |
| 21 |
UCLA
|
Making a living thumping powder puffs, but the offense is looking fierce (defense... eh). Also LBSU isn't the powderiest of puffs this year. |
| 22 |
UConn
|
UCONN has been underwhelming since season began, and it finally bit them in a game that WVU controlled from the tip. |
| 23 |
Miami (FL)
|
There are two teams with a top ten win this year: UK and Miami. I know it's too early to say things like that, but it's fun. |
| 24 |
West Virginia
|
As much as I blamed for UCONN for underwhelming in their game, I must also give credit for a great performance by WVU. Watch out Big 12. |
| 25 |
Arkansas
|
What? Include another team? Damn... they all lost! Well all but Arkansas, who get their first real test Tuesday. Do your thing Hogs. |
