Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Oklahoma | OU has been #1 in my poll since the beginning. I truly believe they're the best team in the country. |
| Michigan State | Let's see if they can keep things rolling in Big Ten play. It won't be easy. |
| Xavier | I decided to have Xavier jump KU this week, simply for the fact that they're still undefeated after having played a pretty tough schedule. |
| Kansas | KU is at 4, but 1-4 is super close in my poll. |
| Providence | I'm quite high on Providence. Kris Dunn is an absolute game-changer. Bentil is a budding star. |
| Maryland | They deserve to be this high, but I'm not sure they're really this good just yet. |
| Arizona | Once Sean Miller figures out the right lineups, they could be really good. |
| Virginia | They've proven that the GW game was just a fluke. Now, GW is good, but UVA would absolutely win big if they played again today. |
| Purdue | I still believe in Purdue. They played a terrible game against a great team in Butler and still managed to hang around. |
| Louisville | They've been solid so far, but conference play will show us who this team really is. |
| Iowa State | Another UNI victim. Iowa State will be okay, but they have some things to figure out. |
| Miami (FL) | It's obvious that they just looked beyond Northeastern. This team could win the ACC. |
| Butler | Butler is a legitimate veteran-laden team. They're a Sweet 16 team without a doubt. Dunham was TERRIBLE against Purdue and they still won. |
| West Virginia | Press Virginia can be really good. If they can dictate the pace for 40 minutes, they can beat anyone. |
| SMU | I'm not totally sold on SMU. For whatever reason, it feels like they could crumble at any moment. |
| Cincinnati | This Cincy team could be special for Mick Cronin. |
| North Carolina | They'll be fine. They'll move up quickly during ACC play. |
| Kentucky | Growing pains. |
| Duke | They've got some work to do - especially in the backcourt. |
| Baylor | I'm not sold on Baylor, but they deserve to be here thus far. |
| GW | GW is for real. The problem knowing how good they are already is that it won't be as crazy a surprise when they make noise in March. |
| Villanova | I'm not very high on Nova - I wasn't last year either. We'll see how they end up doing in conference play with a good Big East this year. |
| Texas A&M | Possibly the best team in the SEC. |
| South Carolina | Undefeated is undefeated. They played Clemson pretty close, but hey, they still won. |
| Northern Iowa | Giant killers. Couldn't decide between UNI, Utah, or Chatt, but I gave UNI the nod in the end. |
