Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Michigan State | Undefeated with wins over Kansas, Providence, Louisville, and Florida. |
| Oklahoma | Still undefeated after 2 trips to Hawaii. The big win over Villanova puts them at #2. |
| Xavier | Another undefeated team with big rivalry wins against Dayton and Cincinnati. |
| Kansas | Kansas nearly beat Michigan State without Diallo. This could be the year for another championship. |
| Virginia | 3 consecutive wins over West Virginia, Villanova, and California. |
| Butler | Butler has beat Cincinnati and Purdue, and scored 144 points in their first game of the season. |
| Maryland | I don't think very many teams will win @UNC this season, so I won't knock Maryland too far for losing. |
| Providence | Their only loss is Michigan State, and they beat Arizona. They also have been winning without Dunn, who could win POTY. |
| Miami (FL) | Never trailed against Butler in the championship of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. They also beat Utah and Florida. |
| Iowa State | Quality wins over Iowa, Colorado, and Cincinnati keep them in my Top 10. |
| Purdue | Lost to Butler, but has wins over Florida and Pittsburgh. |
| SMU | Still undefeated after sanctions. Needed a good win (Colorado) to move up in my rankings. |
| North Carolina | 2 losses already, but they were both in tough road environments. They have won against Maryland, UCLA, and Northwestern. |
| Arizona | I think Arizona can win the Pac-12 again this year, but I don't think they deserve a higher ranking right now. |
| West Virginia | A good team with a terrifying combination of offense and defense. Their only loss is to Virginia. |
| Villanova | Suffered tough losses against Oklahoma at Pearl Harbor and @Virginia, but could still win the Big East over the trio of Top 10 teams. |
| Kentucky | Kentucky has beat Louisville and Duke, but has lost to UCLA and Ohio State. |
| Colorado | Lost two close games against Iowa State and SMU. They will be a contender in the deep Pac-12. |
| Louisville | Got close to winning on the road against Michigan State and rival Kentucky. They will need the ACC for quality wins though. |
| GW | Embarrassing loss to DePaul, but they did beat Virginia and Seton Hall. They should win the A-10. |
| Cincinnati | Won against GWU, and lost close games at home against Iowa State and Butler. |
| Utah | Beat Duke and Texas Tech, but took a beating from Miami. |
| Duke | Duke will always be Top 25 worthy with Coach K. They will need better wins than what they have now though if they want to stay in. |
| Florida | They have lost at Michigan State and Miami, and on a neutral floor against Purdue. They should still do well in the SEC. |
| South Carolina | Undefeated, but I don't know if they can keep it going in the SEC. |
