Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Big win over Oklahoma, and an underrated win over TTU |
| Oklahoma | Lost to Kansas, but played well |
| SMU | Undefeated, injury hasn't hurt them yet. If/when it does, they'll fall. I'm not going to speculate. |
| Michigan State | Another one loss team, they're very good |
| Maryland | Only one loss, and a forgivable one |
| Xavier | Another one loss team with a forgivable loss |
| South Carolina | Undefeated but they haven't beaten anyone that good |
| West Virginia | One loss team, let's see how they do in Big 12 |
| Miami (FL) | They have recovered nicely from an atrocious loss |
| Providence | Two loss team, but tough two losses |
| Pitt | One loss team, now they get into ACC play |
| North Carolina | A few good wins, a few bad losses |
| Villanova | Let's see if they falter in Big East play |
| Duke | Some good wins, some bad losses. Hot and cold. |
| Virginia | some struggles recently, but they're ranked this high because everyone is struggling. |
| USC | Big win over Arizona gets them in. |
| Texas A&M | They've played well this season, let's see if they can beat South Carolina and Kentucky |
| Purdue | Good team out of Big 10, gets overlooked with Sparty. |
| Arizona | Tough loss to USC, plus another loss this week, makes them drop |
| Saint Mary's | Gaels get in after a great start. |
| GW | Only 3 losses, undefeated at home, and a strong win against Virginia. They rise this week in spite of loss because others ahead were worse |
| Little Rock | Only one loss, to ranked Texas Tech. |
| Texas Tech | They may collapse in Big 12 play, we'll see. For now, they deserve this. |
| Kentucky | They've had a few bad losses. If not for the Duke win, we wouldn't even consider ranking them. They're not that good. |
| Hawaii | Only two losses were to Texas Tech and Oklahoma, both ranked teams. They may very well win the rest of their games with weak schedule. |
