Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | It's basically a tie with Oklahoma. Kansas can lose the #1 seed to Oklahoma even without losing if Sooners play better in the next games |
| Oklahoma | See above |
| Michigan State | Michigan State has the best quality win in the country and a quality road loss. MD talent looks better but their resume is weaker for now |
| Maryland | See above |
| Villanova | Best Big East team so far in conference play. Non-conference losses were to top quality teams |
| Xavier | Resume is rock solid but loss to Villanova was too large to justify ranking them over Nova |
| North Carolina | They've been navigating ACC troubled water without taking any damage so far |
| SMU | If you keep on winning sooner or later you'll land in the top 10. Quality wins is better that the other unbeaten team (SC) |
| Providence | I'm surprised to have to rank them sill #9 after bad home loss to Marquette but the teams below haven't shined brigther |
| Arizona | Tough luck this week. They play in the most competitive conference and still belong in the top 10. |
| Duke | The dukies are climbing up the ladder by taking care of their games with no sweat |
| West Virginia | Maybe they've just been lucky with the schedule so far but as of now ranking them lower than ISU would be unfair to the respective resumes |
| Iowa State | Top 5 talent here. The performance is too volatile to sustain an higher ranking at this point. The Big XII does not help. |
| Pitt | After their first good road win, it's time to reward this team for their consistency |
| Virginia | An acute case of 'tech' allergy should not detract for all the previous accomplishments. |
| South Carolina | They've never faced a powerhouse so far but look at their resumes. They did beat some good teams along the road. |
| Butler | It's arguably the most difficult team to rank outside of the Pac-12. I think they may belong here for now. |
| Texas A&M | Flashes of brilliance, solid play and resilience on the road. |
| Miami (FL) | I have them lower than most polls. They still haven't shown me much. It doesn't mean that they don't have it, tough. Let's how they do @UVA |
| Kentucky | It was difficult to envisage Knetucky having already three losses at this point of the season. |
| Baylor | Top-notch road win. Highest riser of the week in my ballot. |
| Louisville | They don't seem to be trending in the right direction. They've been underrated in the first part of the season. Now, not so much. |
| Iowa | Still looking great after the terrific performance of the past week. |
| Purdue | The talent is still there but the kinda of failed the test of the first Big Ten games |
| Indiana | First 10 Out: Oregon, Utah, Cal, Cincinnati, USC, UConn, UCLA, GW, Texas Tech, Gonzaga |
