Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Oklahoma | This has been the hardest year to rank teams in memory. |
| Kansas | Outside of Oklahoma at #1, I have no idea what to do. |
| North Carolina | I think nine of the top ten teams have apparent flaws. |
| Villanova | And since Oklahoma doesn't have a deep bench... |
| Xavier | ... anything could happen in a game with them too, potentially. |
| West Virginia | There are teams with elite defenses. |
| Iowa | Teams with elite offenses. |
| Maryland | Very few with what could be considered both. |
| Michigan State | And weirdly, Kentucky and Duke... |
| Texas A&M | ... both of whom were in my top four coming into the season... |
| Baylor | ... aren't in the Top 25 whatsoever. |
| Virginia | I still think UK's bigs can figure it out... |
| Miami (FL) | ... and I think Duke will be a real contender with a healthy Amile Jefferson... |
| SMU | ... but neither of those are sure things. |
| Purdue | I have absolutely no idea what to expect from this point forward. |
| Iowa State | So if you disagree with some of my placements this week... |
| Providence | ... I won't argue. I'm not terribly passionate about my order. |
| USC | I feel like these are teams deserving of the top 25 slots... |
| Arizona | ... but it's hard for me to say who I'd favor down the stretch. |
| Butler | Outside of Oklahoma and Kansas. |
| Louisville | So... yeah. Those are my comments. |
| Pitt | Please get well soon, Amile. |
| South Carolina | I can't take Duke losing 5 out of 6. |
| Notre Dame | Which very realistically could happen. |
| Wichita State | I'll just log off for two weeks if it does. |
