Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | This isn't just a team of thoroughbreds, they can grind and win all manner of games |
| Duke | Just...fuck off with your never-missing-a-shot shit. This team is far better than I thought it would be. They're truly frightening |
| Arizona | Impressive win against a Gonzaga team that had looked as good as anyone. The top 3 are clearly above everyone else right now |
| Wisconsin | I objectively can't drop my team too far. How many teams would have gotten just run off the court that night? We didn't. Duke was immaculate |
| Louisville | Ohio St is very good, and Louisville got a huge win. They're for real. |
| Virginia | I'm not as sure as I once was about VCU, but beating the shit out of them at home is impressive |
| Gonzaga | Can't drop them much for losing at Zona in OT. They're an excellent team |
| Villanova | Mowing through the Philly competition, big game against Illinois coming up |
| Kansas | They're starting to round into form, and a win at Georgetown would be another big step |
| Texas | Like Wisconsin and Gonzaga, it's hard to penalize a team that loses a close game to one of the top three |
| Iowa State | Yeah, they stubbed their toe. So have lots of teams already. Arkansas went up to Hilton with a ton of momentum and got just stomped |
| Ohio State | See: Wisconsin, Gonzaga, Texas |
| Wichita State | Losing in OT at Utah is no bad loss, because Utah is looking very good. The Shockers are going to be fine |
| Oklahoma | They didn't do a lot this week, just took a nifty shit on Mizzou |
| Utah | Huge resume win over Wichita St. Krystkowiak's beefed-up schedule has been paying dividends |
| Butler | Alex Barlow and Kameron Woods are really underrated, do-everything players at both ends of the floor |
| Miami (FL) | Almost everyone seems to have picked up an unexpected loss already. This team is still very promising, and GB will be heard from in March |
| San Diego State | See, this is why they were #26 in my preseason rankings. The defense is magnificent, but they have no go-to scorer or true point guard yet |
| Michigan State | Losing by one in OT on the road is a much better loss than some teams suffered this week...so...yeah |
| Northern Iowa | Took OT to beat a kinda rotten George Mason team but a win's a win. Especially given that a lot of teams in the 20's have been losing games |
| West Virginia | Not a good loss, but hey, not as bad as Michigan right? |
| Notre Dame | They picked up an important win over Sparty. Grant gives them a chance to be a whole lot better than they'd otherwise be |
| Michigan | I'm going to leave them in the rankings because I've previously underrated them and because that was a fluke. But srsly, what the fuck |
| Illinois | Cautiously moving them into the rankings...this is, after all, a team that's on the Grocecoaster. Who knows what will happen next? |
| Colorado State | This team boasts the most versatile 1-2 punch in America (Daniel Bejarano and JJ Avila), and now Stanton Kidd is playing very well, also |
