Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Eye test alone puts Kentucky at the top spot... the shooting hasn't been great, but team has talent across the board. Can beat anyone. |
| Villanova | If Kentucky is 1a, Villanova is 1b. An impressive road win at Purdue and Josh Hart has been unstoppable. Size remains a big concern. |
| Duke | Still struggling to see where Duke fits, but let's put them here for now. Missing some key pieces, but already deadly on offense. |
| Kansas | Yes Kansas beat Duke. Yes Frank Mason is awesome. Just think Duke beats them 6/10 times on a neutral floor, esp when full strength. |
| North Carolina | Haven't been challenged so far, but they certainly look the part of a top 5 team. Balanced scoring and a stupidly talented frontcourt. |
| Indiana | Beat Kansas in what was virtually a toss-up... means they really belong up here. Blackmon is legit. |
| Virginia | Absolutely LOVE the team's defense. 32 points allowed to St Francis, 38 to Yale. No Austin Nichols throws things off, but still.... |
| Xavier | A few early season scares (Lehigh and Mizzou) but X prevailed. Will be getting Myles Davis and Kaiser Gates back which should help on off. |
| Arizona | They go here because they've won the games they need to. Tough to comment on the win over Mich St because Mich St is in free fall. |
| Saint Mary's | Eeked out a win at Dayton, but hey it counts. |
| Oregon | Horrid loss to Baylor... Baylor is better than most thought, but still. This team needs Brooks back. |
| Louisville | Starting to look the part out there, just need to beat some formidable teams. |
