Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Duke | Their shorthanded roster didn't face another test this week, but proved they can dominate without 3 talented players and 2 more hobbled. |
| Kentucky | With their only top 100 KenPom opponent being Michigan State, they've done a lot of flexing against inferior competition, tougher week ahead |
| Kansas | Kansas has started going small with Vick and Jackson at the 3/4 on nearly 25% of possessions, has been very successful. |
| North Carolina | Back to back wins over OkSt and Wisky capped off an impressive Maui; Meeks and Bradley rank 1/2 in OR%, scary to see from the young man. |
| Villanova | The young Mikal Bridges is 8th in the nation in ORtg; not bad for the 5th or 6th man on a national contender. |
| Virginia | Kyle Guy has been better than anticipated, and should help cover for the loss of Nichols. The defense has started off legendary. |
| Baylor | Huge wins over Oregon and Lousiville to start the season; they've played strong D without fouling ranking 11th in Def FTA/FGA. |
| Xavier | Sumner and Bluiett might be the best one two punch in the NCAA; Baylor will be a real test for both teams this weekend. |
| Gonzaga | With the deepest corps of big men and solid role pieces on the wings and backcourt the Zags just fended off two straight top 25 teams. |
| Louisville | They don't turn it over and play amazing defense, even with any struggles shooting the ball that will win them the majority of games. |
| Indiana | They're committing and forcing TOs at a horrendous rate (326th and 332nd Nationally); If the OReb regresses, they could see more bad losses. |
| Saint Mary's | The defense hasn't been elite, but when the offense is 3rd in eFG% and 9th in TO% you can't complain. |
| UCLA | They're playing at a blistering pace as young guns Ball and Leaf are top 50 nationally in ORtg. |
| Creighton | Creighton is the best 3 point shooting team in the nation, I expect that to regress, but Mo Watson's 21st best AssistRate shouldn't. |
| Arizona | Rumors of Trier's return haven't come to fruition, but he'll be needed if the Butler game showed us anything. Depth and Shot-Making lacking. |
| Purdue | Haas is being utilized on greater than 28% of possessions and it still feels like he could get the ball more, feed him please. |
| Butler | Another Butler team that excels at nothing but shows no weakness. While they foul frequently depth and Def TO% should cover for it. |
| Oregon | It looks like Brooks wasn't the only problem with this team; the shots are not falling from 3 (286th Nationally) and TOs are high (299th) |
| Syracuse | #1 in opponent eFG% and #7 in 3 point shooting, occassionally you're going to get outplayed as they did against USC |
| Iowa State | Tough loss against the Zags nothing to hang your head about; the emergence of Burton has been elpful for the variety to this offense. |
| Florida | Florida's allowing Offensive Rebounds at an alarming rate (306th Nationally) teams that crash the boards and have size can exploit them. |
| West Virginia | For a team that's physical and doesn;t shoot well, they'll need to be better than 328th at hitting their freebies |
| Wisconsin | It's unlike Wisky to be in the 200s for Off & Def TO%; they're shooting and missing far too many threes |
| URI | Opponents are hitting 80% of their FTs, that should regress heavily. More concerning is lack of size leading to being 272nd in allowing OReb |
| Cincinnati | Next 5: South Carolina; Wichita St, Michigan, Miami, Texas A&M |
