falconlover79's Ballot for Week 5 of 2016-17| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Villanova
|
Hard to argue this with UK and UNC both losing. They haven't played a poor game yet. |
| 2 |
Baylor
|
Another quality win to add to Baylor's resume. That's 4 now, easily more than any other team. |
| 3 |
UCLA
|
UCLA may have just added the best win of the season to their resume. Ball and Leaf are both playing better than freshmen. |
| 4 |
Kansas
|
This team shouldn't lose again until Big 12 play. Frank Mason continues to impress. |
| 5 |
Duke
|
The MSU win may not look amazing now, but it will look better in March. Good to see Tatum and Bolden on the floor this week. |
| 6 |
Indiana
|
What a roller coaster month for the Hoosiers. Wins over Kansas and UNC impress me more than the IPFW loss worries me. |
| 7 |
Kentucky
|
The defence was nowhere to be seen against the high-powered Bruins but Malik Monk continues to amaze. |
| 8 |
Gonzaga
|
No one can doubt the Zags now that they added Arizona to their resume. Potential trap game against in-state rival UW this week. |
| 9 |
Creighton
|
Speaking of in-state rivalries, the Blue Jays go on the road but should still be able to handle Nebrasketball. |
| 10 |
North Carolina
|
The Heels' week got worse, losing Joel Berry to an ankle injury. Can they handle two top 100 teams this week at home? I would hope so. |
| 11 |
Virginia
|
Rocky performances from the Hoos as they could have easily lost to both OSU and WVU. |
| 12 |
Saint Mary's
|
Stanford was the last real test on their OOC schedule, and they passed. Can't afford to drop one before Jan 14th against Gonzaga. |
| 13 |
Butler
|
The Bulldogs handled Utah and now look forward to an interesting game at Hinkle against Cincy. |
| 14 |
Louisville
|
A solid, balanced performance against Purdue impressed, and their only loss is to a top 5 team. |
| 15 |
West Virginia
|
The Temple loss isn't as bad as originally thought, and they got a quality win to make up for it. |
| 16 |
Xavier
|
Still not overly impressed with this team thus far. They have a chance to prove me wrong against two solid Pac 12 teams. |
| 17 |
South Carolina
|
Had them higher until hearing about the Thornwell suspension. Their next game should be tough so they better have him back. |
| 18 |
Wisconsin
|
Two solid wins against quality teams so the Badgers deserve a bump. Marquette may challenge them this week. |
| 19 |
Cincinnati
|
It's not easy to win in Hilton if you're not the Cyclones. Now they've got another tough road game against Butler this week. |
| 20 |
Notre Dame
|
Notre Dame gets their toughest task of the year so far this Saturday. The top-ranked Wildcats won't be an easy out. |
| 21 |
USC
|
BYU is no pushover and this team will get even better when Boatright returns, maybe in time for conference play. |
| 22 |
Florida
|
Big week for the Gators coming up. We should know in 7 days whether this team can challenge Kentucky in the SEC this year. |
| 23 |
Arizona
|
Still no great win for Arizona, and they've lost the only 2 challenges they've faced. Talent-wise, they still deserve to be ranked. |
| 24 |
Virginia Tech
|
The comeback win over Michigan convinced me that Buzz has a solid team brewing. They need to prove it by beating Ole Miss on Sunday. |
| 25 |
Ohio State
|
Quality loss? Maybe. Their win over Providence doesn't look to shabby either. Next 5: Temple, Oregon, FSU, TCU, Cal |
