Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Hey Kentucky actually played a competitive game. Still stacked with talent and still #1 in the country |
| Duke | It is almost impossible to win at the Kohl Center and Duke pulled it off with aplomb. Improving each and every game |
| Arizona | Arizona is able to get just enough to win against their tough opponents. If Stanley Johnson keeps improving...watch out |
| Virginia | Huge wins on the road over Maryland and VCU and this underrated team of vets keeps on chugging. |
| Louisville | Added a big nonconference win over Ohio State this week...can't wait for Dec 27th. |
| Wisconsin | Ugly week for the Badgers. A home loss to Duke and a very ugly win over Marquette really dents what I still believe is a very strong team |
| Gonzaga | On a neutral court they could have beaten Arizona. St. John's W looking better and now the best midmajor |
| Villanova | Michigan's L to NJIT really damages their resume but still the favorite and a strong team in surging Big East |
| Texas | They played Kentucky the toughest of any team this year...they are good, but is this a Rick Barnes January fake or is it legit. We will see |
| Kansas | Halfway through a tough stretch of four straight KenPom Top 25 teams Kansas is looking well and is still rebounding well from the UK stinker |
| Wichita State | The Shockers lost their first regular season game in over a year in a tough one in Utah. Lets see if they can rebound against Seton Hall |
| Ohio State | You can't fault the Buckeyes for losing at Louisville and keeping it relatively competitive. We have to wait until UNC to see OSU's talent |
| Utah | ter just missing out against SDSU the Utes pull off the big victory over Wichita St. The Utes test themselves against KU and BYU this week |
| Maryland | Only loss is to Virginia...can't fault that. Still hold neutral site W over Iowa State |
| Iowa State | The Cyclones scorched the Razorbacks making up for the earlier Maryland loss |
| Notre Dame | Big win over Michigan State plus their close shave to Providence lands them here |
| Michigan State | Close against some top teams...haven't been able to pull it off. Just a cut below the top |
| Oklahoma | Added just Missouri this week as a W still holds big wins over UCLA and Butler |
| San Diego State | Wins over Utah, BYU, Pitt but the ugly loss to Washington hurts them in the long run. |
| St. John's | Steve Lavin and the Johnnies join the rankings with wins over Minnesota and @Syracuse and the only loss to Gonzaga |
| Butler | Georgetown and UNC W's still their resume W's though they are looking a tad worse now |
| Washington | Big Win over San Diego State. Remaining resume is lacking |
| North Carolina | Just like last year UNC is fading a bit early but still clings on here |
| Miami (FL) | Win against Illinois, loss against a tough Green Bay team...net loss but enough to keep them here |
| Baylor | Loss to Illinois but the computers love them and I love them just a little bit more than Iowa,Seton Hall, and Illinois |
