Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Baylor | Wow, an unreal rise from no votes to #1, test @WVU on Tuesday. Motley and Acuil make up the most efficient front court in the nation. |
| Kansas | Kansas's rotation is going to catch up to them eventually, going small and underplaying Bragg is very unlike Self, the guards will wear out |
| Villanova | Villanova bounced back from the loss, regained KenPom's #1 Offense, only complaint is with such talent they rely too heavily on Hart's Usage |
| Gonzaga | There's a real chance of the Zag's going undefeated, Sat's game vs. SMU is one of only 3 times KP has their win% at under 89% (@BYU, @SMU) |
| UCLA | The lack of defense (76th in KP) is starting to become a legit concern, so is the shot selection of Hamilton and Holiday. |
| Kentucky | The backcourt is insane, the pace is unfathomable, this is the most fun team in the country to watch, too bad they have no competition. |
| Duke | The loss of Jefferson for an extended period would be a death-blow: duke's captian/vocal leader, best defender, and avg. a double double... |
| West Virginia | WVU plays the new #1 Baylor at home, look for the TO battle to decide it, WVU forces the most turnovers; protects the ball at 6th best rate. |
| Creighton | Creighton bounced back with two strong wins, their shooting remains elite, but they should be concerned with OReb% (303rd Nationally) |
| Florida State | FSU won by 15 while only getting 20 combined from XRM, Bacon, and Isaac... Ojo and Company are a more than capable depth. |
| North Carolina | NCState was punished for delaying the game, Justin Jackson taking 29% of UNC's shots is concerning for his shooting ability though. |
| Purdue | Beating Wisconsin was not only an impressive victory, but allowed the B10 to remain an interesting two team race down the stretch |
| Butler | Butler continues to excel at nothing, but is good at everything... except offensive rebounding (249 Nationally) |
| Virginia | Back to back losses exposed some flaws, namely a lack of a go to guard and inability to get to the line (343rd Nationally in FTA/FGA) |
| Louisville | The defense is elite (#1), but unless they can learn to shoot (200+ in eFG, 2PT, 3PT, FT) they'll lose games to the likes of ND and UVa |
| Arizona | Arizona has been exceptional considering their short rotation, the freshman play strong, all getting to the line at an elite rate |
| Wisconsin | Wisconsin got out muscled and out ran all game against Purdue, Happ, Hayes, and Brown aren't strong enough to battle and get to the line. |
| Oregon | The blocks are still there, but something is missing thats keeping this D from being as elitely efficient as last years team, still 4-0... |
| Xavier | Myles Davis is about to return to a squad that is already loaded. smallball with Davis, Bluiett, Sumner, Macura, and Gaston... lookout |
| Notre Dame | Notre Dame owns one of the weirdest stat quirks... #1 in FT% Off., and #351 in FT% Def. someone check the hoops in South Bend... |
| Cincinnati | It's a good thing this team is terrible at getting to the line (278th), because they suck at shooting them anyways (305th). I <3 Washington |
| Florida | Feb 4. Kentucky comes to Gainesville, very likely both teams are undefeated in conference to that point. |
| Saint Mary's | They will remain in the 20s until they lose, a national POY contender in Jock Landale, but no signature wins. Gonzaga looms.... |
| Minnesota | Minnesota is top 5 in RPI at the moment and tied for the B10 lead. They protect the ball and get to the line at top 15 rates. |
| Kansas State | Next 5: Indiana, Clemson, Iowa St., SMU, South Carolina |
