Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Villanova | Mikal Bridges might be the best player in America and this team has 0 weaknesses. Defend well without fouling, 3rd in Def FTA/FGA. |
| Michigan State | This might legitimately be the best defense in the nation, and they have enough on offense to win it all. 1st in Def 2pt % 2nd in Block %. |
| Duke | For as long as this Duke team is, they do a horrible job at Turning over opponents (324th nationally), that shows a lack of effort... |
| Wichita State | These slow starts might catch up to them, but this is one of the deepest teams, 8 guys get over 40% of minutes and thats w/o McDuffie so far |
| Miami (FL) | Nearly dead last in FT% and this team doesnt get to the line often (308th nationally), that's not winning bball, need to be aggressive |
| Kentucky | Played a pathetic schedule so far, so they're here by default. They can't shoot and can't take care of the ball, VT, UCLA, UL will be tests. |
| Arizona State | Daaaaamn, fuck their Defensive rating, they shoot amazingly, and their offensive sets seem to consistently produce open shots. I believe. |
| Gonzaga | With as good as Nova looked on Tuesday, it's a miracle I came away impressed with the Zags talent. They have the pieces and will surprise. |
| Purdue | The Atlantis blip is behind them with 5 straight over top 100 opponents, 6 straight total. Painter, give Haarms more minutes! |
| Texas A&M | Stuck with Zona (& Refs) in an ugly road game. Defense will likely fall back down to earth with unsustainable #s, will they get enough O? |
| Kansas | They need more bodies, 6 or 7 isn't doing it and you can see it in the second half of these games, also shows in OReb% and FTA/FGA no fight. |
| Xavier | Bluiett is getting to the basket at will, Xavier isn't relying on the 3, but if they can get to the rim in this efficient manner all year... |
| West Virginia | With the A&M loss a month ago, it's time to talk about the 9 straight wins, the defense is legit and Carter West and Miles can carry the O |
| North Carolina | UT's defense is legit, will be interesting to see if Maye can handle the battle with Williams, should tell us alot about both teams. |
| Virginia | Kyle Guy taking 14 threes isn't the offense this team needs, they need to figure out a way to produce better shots. |
| Arizona | Two weeks ago I was ragged on for keeping Zona in my rankings, but it was clear the talent would eventually click. Def still needs work. |
| TCU | Jamie Dixon's system is working perfectly, SMU couldn't match their firepower, and Nevada's short roster couldn't keep it up the whole 40. |
| Seton Hall | I watched the first five minutes of the VCU game, enough to see two Desi to Angel steal-transition dunks... this team is wild. |
| Baylor | BU's offense needs to wake up, you can't just let Manu run around for 30 seconds and pass to an unopen guy to jack a shot. |
| Notre Dame | ND is just flat out not fast enough to defend ball screens and cuts. Fast or big teams will fight them every time. |
| Tennessee | These guys play tough defense, in their lust to attack and block on D they can hurt themselves, letting up ORebs & putting teams on the line |
| Louisville | The athletes are there, I'm not sure the shooting is. Snider seems to be going back and forth between aggressor and distributor. |
| Texas Tech | Clamped down on the Martins down the stretch and just had a deeper team to outlast in OT. |
| Florida | Ugly back to back home losses, the shooting has faltered and the defense isn't consistent, lucky Cincy cant shoot. Need another big man. |
| Oklahoma | Trae Young is playing insane, I dont think he can beat WSU alone, but maybe if Lattin can play well. Next 5: Cincy, FSU, Creighton, VT, Bama |
