Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kentucky | Clear #1 |
| Duke | Clear #2, or 1B |
| Wisconsin | |
| Virginia | Had to grind out wins over Davidson and Miami, but still undefeated |
| Louisville | Bounced back and beat a deceptively good Long Beach State team and snuck past Wake Forest on the road. |
| Arizona | Same story as last week, but bounced back against ASU |
| Gonzaga | Interchangeable with Arizona with how close their game earlier this year was |
| Villanova | First loss of the year, but it was close and on the road against a surging Seton Hall team |
| Kansas | Played a really, really tough schedule so far |
| Texas | Both losses came without Isaiah Taylor, now they're at full strength with the Big XII gauntlet ahead |
| Utah | Absolutely destroyed UCLA |
| Maryland | Not totally sold on them yet, but winning at Michigan State is always tough and they keep winning. |
| West Virginia | Beat TCU on the road without Juwan Staten, not a bad win at all |
| Notre Dame | Not impressing, but they keep on winning |
| Iowa State | Apparently they forgot how to shoot 3-pointers against South Carolina |
| Oklahoma | Good win over Baylor to open Big XII play |
| North Carolina | Convincing road win to open ACC play, but have a couple tough home games coming up |
| VCU | Played a good non-conference schedule |
| Wichita State | Not sold on this team yet and there's a bunch of teams that fit from the 19-30 range |
| Baylor | Lost on the road to a higher-ranked team to open conference play, no real reason to drop them...yet |
| Seton Hall | Wins over St. Johns and Villanova are hard to ignore |
| Old Dominion | Have been lurking for a while, but with all the losses, it's about time for them to fit in the rankings somewhere |
| Colorado State | First loss of the year in a tough road environment |
| LSU | Beat WVU on the road earlier in the season and haven't looked back. They get Kentucky at home later in the year... |
| Ohio State |
