Digz4Gallia's Ballot for Week 9 of 2014-15| Rank | Team | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 |
Kentucky
|
Wildcats had a bye week. They open SEC play with a Tuesday night contest with Ole Miss. |
| 2 |
Duke
|
It was a busy week for Duke, but all three opponents were heavily out-manned. A couple in-state games await them this week. |
| 3 |
Virginia
|
Cavaliers beat a decent Dayton team, then won a wild double-OT game at Miami. This week won't be any easier with NC State and Notre Dame. |
| 4 |
Louisville
|
Rebounded from the Kentucky loss with wins over Long Beach State and at Wake Forest. A trip to Chapel Hill comes Saturday. |
| 5 |
Gonzaga
|
Had two conference road wins this week over San Diego and Portland. The Bulldogs continue to put up impressive offensive numbers. |
| 6 |
Arizona
|
Only had one game this week. The Cats went down early to ASU, then clawed their way back to a win over their rivals. |
| 7 |
Wisconsin
|
Opened B1G play with wins over Penn State and Northwestern. |
| 8 |
Notre Dame
|
Held on in double-OT to beat Georgia Tech on Saturday. We'll learn much more about the Irish this week, as they play North Carolina and UVA. |
| 9 |
Villanova
|
Beat Butler, then had a close loss to now-ranked Seton Hall. I don't penalize 'Nova too much for losing on the road to a quality opponent. |
| 10 |
Maryland
|
Terps began their inagural B1G season with wins over Sparty and Minnesota. Really thinking these guys are for real this season. |
| 11 |
West Virginia
|
Beat Va Tech, then made on of their long conference road trips to Texas to beat TCU. Another Texas trip awaits this week as they got to TTU. |
| 12 |
North Carolina
|
Won by 22+ points in both games last week. This week will really ramp up in difficulty. This will be a great chance to get into the Top-10. |
| 13 |
Utah
|
Looked extremely impressive in wins over USC and UCLA. Utes get another home game this week against Colorado. |
| 14 |
Texas
|
Did what they had to to beat Rice and Texas Tech. A tough Oklahoma team awaits them this week. |
| 15 |
Iowa State
|
The neutral-site loss to South Carolina hurts, but the Cyclones can rebound quickly with Big 12 play starting up. |
| 16 |
Wichita State
|
Shockers move up one spot in my poll after winning both their games, and the fact that a lot of teams around them lost at least once. |
| 17 |
Seton Hall
|
Seton Hall re-emerges in my Top-25 with two wins over ranked opponents. Trips to Creighton and Xavier await this week. |
| 18 |
Kansas
|
Kansas didn't have the greatest wins, but they benefit from a number of teams losing this week. |
| 19 |
Oklahoma
|
Sooners enter the rankings after going 2-0 to start Big 12 play. |
| 20 |
Oklahoma State
|
It definitely looks like I wanted to put some Big 12 schools together, but I think it's a fair toss-up between these three. |
| 21 |
Butler
|
This is probably my most controversial move this season. Despite losing a game, Butler jumps into the polls fresh off their win over SJU. |
| 22 |
St. John's
|
Two difficult conference losses see the Johnnies fall precipitously down the rankings. |
| 23 |
Old Dominion
|
Not sure about ODU being a ranked team, but I think they've done enough (couple with others losing) thus far to be here. |
| 24 |
Ohio State
|
Lost to Iowa, but I still think the Buckeyes are a Top-25 team. |
| 25 |
Indiana
|
Looked good this week. They've been a fringe Top-25 team, so we'll see if they can stay in this time. |
