Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Villanova | (1) A couple good wins over PC at home and on the road @MU. They stay number one. |
| Virginia | (3) Got what might be the best win of the season @Duke to go along with a dominated performance against Clemson. They jump Purdue. |
| Purdue | (2) Solid wins over UMich and @Indiana. Didn't look quite as good this week |
| Duke | (4) I'm not going to drop them for losing to UVA at home. Defense needs some work though. UVA was getting a lot of open looks. |
| Michigan State | (5) Solid wins over Wisconsin and @Maryland. Turnovers are still a problem. |
| Xavier | (7) Dominating performance over Marquette. Nova and X have created some separation from the rest of the conference. |
| Kansas | (8) Losing @OU isn't a bad loss. As long as they sit atop the Big 12, KU will stay pretty high in my rankings. |
| Auburn | (14) Have been quietly dominating the SEC, getting wins over LSU and @Mizzou this week. |
| Texas Tech | (11) Got a win over Ok State to go with a nice road win over South Carolina. Not sure if they are back to where they were when they beat KU. |
| Cincinnati | (13) Defense has been great against mediocre teams, but the only top 35 offenses they've played have broken it. Their ranking is fragile. |
| Oklahoma | (10) Have been losing a lot lately, but to good teams. The win over KU keeps them from dropping too far. |
| West Virginia | (6) Losing @TCU is excusable, losing to a mediocre UK at home isn't very pretty. They need a couple wins this week to turn things around. |
| Tennessee | (18) A couple solid wins this week. I'm high on Tennessee, they pass the eye test. |
| Kansas State | (22) Speaking of teams I'm high on, K State is one of them. Good wins over UGA and @Baylor. 2 big games coming up this week v KU and @WVU. |
| Clemson | (12) Have not looked very good lately, squeaking by GT and getting crushed @UVA. They stay pretty high because of their earlier work. |
| Arizona | (16) Everyone thinks this team should be good given their talent, but they still look underwhelming. They keep cruising through a weak PAC12 |
| Ohio State | (15) Lost to PSU on a crazy last second heave, but this team has shown some grit. Bates Diop is legit. |
| Seton Hall | (17) Beat DePaul this week, and their overall resume still looks great, but SHU has looked uninspired lately. |
| Wichita State | (19) Beat a couple mediocre AAC squads at home. They don't look like the same well-oiled machine they were earlier in the season. |
| North Carolina | (9) Really bad week losing @VT and to NC State. They don't have much of an inside presence and their defense has holes. |
| Louisville | (25) Lost to Miami this week, but they still sit in 2nd place in the ACC. Padgett is handling conference play well. |
| Michigan | (21) Played a great game @Purdue (but lost) and beat Rutgers. Can play with the big boys, but lose to some bad teams too. |
| Kentucky | (UR) Great win @WVU to go along with a nice win over Mississippi State. They may have turned a corner and could become a real contender. |
| Saint Mary's | (24) Good win over BYU this week. They stay ranked. |
| Florida State | 26. Creighton 27. Gonzaga 28. ASU 29. Florida 30. Miami 31. Houston 32. URI 33. NC State 34. Alabama 35. Nevada |
