Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Hi again. It's your favorite mod, dep, king of pings and eternal dweeb. |
| Duke | I should probably be talking more about these teams, but I'm not. |
| Gonzaga | One, that's what y'all're here for, and two, I've had bigger fish on my plate lately. |
| North Carolina | And that's what I wanna talk about now. |
| Tennessee | For those unaware, Pepperdine sits in Malibu, California. Just northwest of Los Angeles, it's pretty prime real estate. |
| Nevada | Near cities like Agoura Hiils, Calabasas, Westlake, and Thousand Oaks (which may ring a bell). |
| Michigan | The last of those is where that shooting happened at a nightclub, killing 13. In cluded in that number was a Pepperdine freshman. |
| Auburn | Not only that, I have some very good friends who were at the club that night (and my gf and i were nearly there as well). |
| Villanova | Unfortunately, we haven't even had the ability to process these horrific events because of the Woolsey Fire. |
| Virginia | For those unaware, the fire has raged through much of the area surrounding Malibu since Thursday night, forcing evacuations for many. |
| Virginia Tech | 170,000 residents, according to a couple sources. |
| Syracuse | Not only that, but it's forced many roads closed entirely. |
| Purdue | I spent Friday night sleeping the library with five of my closest friends, hoping that when we woke up, our homes would have lived. |
| Michigan State | It's not something I'd wish on anyone. |
| Marquette | Though campus has been lucky - only a maintenance shack burned, we've still closed through the Thanksgiving holiday. |
| Kansas State | Because every canyon road and the PCH are all blocked, there's no way for many to access campus. |
| Buffalo | In addition, there's an even larger number of students and faculty whose homes may or may not be standing at this point. |
| West Virginia | I, and many of my fellow students, have elected to leave campus, going to our homes or to friends' places in the pursuit of safety. |
| Kentucky | However, we leave behind a very uncertain situation, and there are still many people for whom things may never truly return to normal. |
| Nebraska | I write this because I think this is a community that, while having amazed me with its resilience and togetherness in a time of struggle... |
| LSU | ... also is facing many difficult challenges ahead, and I come to y'all to ask for your thoughts for the community in the days ahead. |
| Stony Brook | As much as that is a platitude at times, I think it can carry weight, knowing that other people understand, so it's much appreciated. |
| New Mexico State | Given that I think early polls like these still hinge on last year a fair bit, I'm recognizing two teams that I think will come to (cont.) |
| Montana | ...win their conference again. NMSU and Montana are kind of the dominant forces in the WAC and Big Sky, and I can't see that changing. |
| Pepperdine | I'll close with a reminder to hug your loved ones a little closer tonight, and to appreciate things while they're good. Much love, y'all. |
