Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | (LW: 3) A fantastic win over Tennessee in a game that looked like a Final Four matchup. MSU helped them as well. |
| Gonzaga | (LW: 4) It was close between GU and UVA, both tournament winners this week. Gonzaga looked slightly more consistent, so they're #2 for now. |
| Virginia | (LW: 2) It does feel weird to move a team down when they won a major tournament like B4A. A win over Maryland could boost them back up. |
| Michigan | (LW: 5) Michigan didn't do much this week, but Villanova helped them out by looking much better. |
| Nevada | (LW: 6) Their offence was clicking, especially against UMass. That's the type of play expected from Nevada this year. |
| Duke | (LW: 1) Harsh? Maybe, but Duke looked pretty bad down the stretch against Gonzaga, despite the Zags giving them chances. |
| Michigan State | (LW: 12) The Kansas loss doesn't look like much of a concern and they looked very strong in Vegas. |
| Virginia Tech | (LW: 8) Quiet week from the Hokies, but they doubled up their only opponent this week, they are certainly looking like a top 10 team. |
| Tennessee | (LW: 10) I would move them up more if I could. Just like Michigan State, a close loss to Kansas can almost be seen as a positive right now. |
| Auburn | (LW: 9) Auburn did alright for themselves in Maui, mostly by proving they could hang around with a top team like Duke. |
| North Carolina | (LW: 7) Texas is a very good team and they bounced back with a dominant win over UCLA the following day. |
| Iowa | (LW: 14) I'm still getting over how impressive Iowa was last week. They did fine in their only game this week, too. |
| Kentucky | (LW: 11) The Duke loss may be more of a concern than originally thought. They also looked mediocre against Winthrop and TSU. |
| Ohio State | (LW: 17) Neither Creighton or Cincinnati have lost since playing the Buckeyes, and the Blue Jays just beat a ranked Clemson team. |
| Texas | (LW: 18) I would just like to say that I feel justified in having Texas ranked at 18 coming into this week, they looked solid in Vegas. |
| Kansas State | (LW: 15) Credit them for still being undeafeted, but their schedule hasn't been too challenging. |
| Texas Tech | (LW: NR) The Nebraska win is certainly impressive, but they also blew out a 6-0 Northern Colorado team a few days later. |
| Arizona State | (LW: NR) Are the Sun Devils going to have another non-conference schedule to remember? They do have Kansas again, this time at home. |
| Maryland | (LW: 20) The Terps shot out of their mind against Marshall on Friday. Big (rivalry) game coming up against UVA on Wednesday. |
| Wisconsin | (LW: NR) They looked a little outmatched against Virginia, but were dominant in the prior two games. |
| Oregon | (LW: 23) I'll be curious to see how Oregon does as they play an interesting road game at undefeated Houston on Saturday. |
| Buffalo | (LW: 24) They keep rolling along, looking like easily the best mid major east of the Mississippi River. |
| St. John's | (LW: NR) They overcame some adversity in order to win two games in Brooklyn this week. |
| Minnesota | (LW: NR) The Gophers should see if they can get Minnesota to secede to Canada, they played amazingly in their 3 games in Vancouver. |
| Iowa State | (LW: 25) Injuries have been cruel to the Cyclones, but they've still looked impressive. Next 5: Arkansas, Purdue, Nebraska, FSU, Nova |
