Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Well done, Jayhawks. After looking dead in the first half against Marquette, Kansas rebounded to win, then beat Tennessee in OT. #1 it is. |
| Gonzaga | Win of the year thus far with that victory over Duke. By the way, Rui Hachimura may be right. He might be the best player in the country. |
| Duke | So they're not unbeatable. This shouldn't be surprising. But I can't drop them too much after losing by only 2 to Gonzaga. They'll rebound. |
| Virginia | Despite a scare from Dayton, Virginia stays in the same place, especially after the Wisconsin win. Still haven't allowed 60 in a game yet. |
| Nevada | Nevada finally moves up with Tennessee losing. Nice to see Tre'Shawn Thurman join the big three in the spotlight with his 22-point night. |
| Michigan | Wolverines stay hot with a 28-point win over Chattanooga. Now here's the real test: North Carolina and Purdue, three days apart, at home. |
| Tennessee | Minor drop after losing to the new #1 team in the country. If Grant Williams hadn't fouled out, we might have seen a different result. |
| Michigan State | Did what North Carolina couldn't do by knocking off a wily Texas team. Like Tennessee, their only loss is to the #1 team in the country. |
| Auburn | Can't fault the Tigers too much for coming up just short against Duke. Not to mention they rebounded nicely with a good win against Arizona. |
| Kansas State | The Cats stay undefeated with a solid outing in the Paradise Jam. Dean Wade has been on fire lately. But there's still room to grow here. |
| Virginia Tech | They only played one game last week, but the utter domination of St. Francis is worth lauding. Tough test for my Nittany Lions this Tuesday. |
| North Carolina | Bigger drop than Tennessee or Auburn as the loss to Texas was totally unexpected. Big chance to rebound with a trip to Ann Arbor Wednesday. |
| Kentucky | Kentucky has not been very convincing. Against Winthrop was alright, but Tennessee State was kinda ugly. Keldon Johnson looks good though. |
| Texas Tech | Massive win over Nebraska and overall dominance goes in, top 15 team comes out! But you can explain it. Jarrett Culver is an absolute force. |
| Oregon | With last week's #14-17 teams all losing games, I suppose that means Oregon moves up. Bol Bol and Payton Pritchard: what a duo they make. |
| Iowa | Not much action here (just a solid win over Alabama State), but with everyone around them losing, the Hawkeyes get a nice ranking boost. |
| Buffalo | This team has been dominant. The fact that they put up 110 against Dartmouth without CJ Massinburg should tell you all you need to know. |
| Florida State | I won't drop the Noles too much after putting up a good fight against the defending champs. Chance to rebound Wednesday against Purdue. |
| Ohio State | Yep, I suppose it's time to add the Buckeyes to my top 25. So far, they've exceeded expectations yet again. Kudos to Chris Holtmann. |
| Arizona State | Well, hi there! I don't know how they do it, but the Sun Devils prove to be excellent in non-con yet again. Just wait until Nevada shows up. |
| Texas | Massive win over UNC. It's too bad that they couldn't keep their foot on the gas for 60 minutes against MSU or they might be a top 10 team. |
| Purdue | Purdue jumps back into the rankings after blowing out Robert Morris. The next five games are killer though: FSU, UM, MD, Texas, ND. |
| Indiana | Oof, if only this team could be healthy. Ugly performance against UC Davis, and an upcoming trip to Duke doesn't make it any better. |
| Mississippi State | It feels unfair to drop the Bulldogs this far after a five-point loss, but that's life. At least they're not Clemson, who fell out entirely. |
| Furman | RANK FURMAN YOU COWARDS. At 7-0, only North Texas has more wins than the Paladins. I won't rest until Furman gets on that banner! |
