Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Kansas | Another close call against Nova, but the Jayhawks found a way to get it done again. Still undefeated, still the top team in the nation. |
| Duke | A week off bodes well for Duke, who maintains its spot simply by not losing. Here comes a real test though: Texas Tech on Thursday. |
| Michigan | Not the prettiest game against Western Michigan, but, hey, they're 11-0. Good chance they'll remain undefeated into the new year. |
| Tennessee | Tennessee is good. Reeeeeal good. Admiral Schofield has been playing lights out basketball, with 29+ points in the last two games. |
| Virginia | Like Duke, the Cavaliers had week off, but move up with the Zags losing. Like Michigan, the Cavaliers could stay undefeated until January. |
| Nevada | Nevada also moves up, though it's a bit more precarious. The Wolf Pack haven't looked dominant recently. Good thing they can rally well. |
| Auburn | Like Nevada, the Tigers haven't looked like their dominant selves as of late. They needed OT to best UAB. Now they go to NC State. Not easy. |
| Texas Tech | Let's get PUMPED! It's a top 10 matchup between the Blue Devils and Red Raiders at MSG on Thursday. Can the tortilla bois pull it off? |
| North Carolina | THAT'S how you make sure you don't get accidentally forgotten in my poll. Huge home win over Gonzaga puts the Tar Heels back in the top 10. |
| Gonzaga | A six-spot drop after the loss to UNC, as the Zags have back-to-back losses for the first time since 2014. Let's hope Tillie is back soon. |
| Michigan State | Strictly business moving the Spartans down one spot with UNC's massive win. Offense looks good with its third 100-point game of the season. |
| Buffalo | The Bulls remain undefeated. Now here's the fun part: road trips to Cuse and Marquette in the same week. Go 2-0, and we have a top 10 team. |
| Florida State | Not much to say, other than good win vs. UConn. Now for three games in one week, including a game in Sunrise vs. Saint Louis. What fun! |
| Virginia Tech | Nice win over Washington. It should be a stress-less rest of the month for VT, with only two games to go until a New Year's Day test vs. ND. |
| Ohio State | It got dicey there vs. Bucknell, but the Buckeyes made the proper halftime adjustments to get the win. Great night for Kaleb Wesson to boot. |
| Wisconsin | Took care of business against Savannah State. Should be a painless rest of the year, unless Western Kentucky decides to put up a fight. |
| Kentucky | Definitely a good "get back on track" type win vs. Utah. They'll be put right back into the fire with UNC and Louisville next up. |
| Arizona State | BIG scare from Georgia. Still, they rallied, like good basketball teams often do, and got the win. Sun Devils stay put because of it. |
| Mississippi State | Bulldogs also stay put with a nice home win over Cincy. Now it's time to avoid upsets and head into conference play with only one loss. |
| Houston | How about them Cougs? Still flying high at 10-0, and home wins over LSU and Saint Louis solidify that. They might stay unbeaten for a while. |
| Oklahoma | I'm still bullish on the Sooners. Here's a good chance to prove themselves before conference play: vs. Creighton and at Northwestern. |
| Iowa | Iowa takes care of business and stays ranked in the same spot in the process. Curious to see how this team performs come time for B1G play. |
| Furman | Hey! Furman moves up a spot. They deserve it too; they manhandled UNCW, like they should have. Can they keep it up vs. LSU? We'll see. |
| Maryland | Maryland gets back in the top 25 with a couple of losses from other teams going their way. Like Villanova's loss to Penn. Yikes, Nova. |
| Nebraska | Good win over Oklahoma State, so Nebraska is back in the top 25. Next Five: Indiana, St. John's, Marquette, Cincinnati, Kansas State. |
