Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Duke | Tier 1-Duke leapfrogs quite a few teams here. They've looked sensational and have beaten much better teams than UVA and Nevada |
| Michigan | Michigan and Duke are at a virtual tie, as duke makes up for the loss with the higher quality wins. Edge goes to duke. |
| Virginia | |
| Nevada | TIER 2- dropping Nevada to tier 2. They still don't have a great win and have looked worse and worse. |
| Kansas | Haven't looked good the past few games, and they finally lost a close one to a top 25 team on the road. |
| Tennessee | |
| Gonzaga | |
| Wisconsin | TIER 3- big drop off from 7-8, I went with Wisconsin here because their two losses are against top teams and have multiple top-30ish wins |
| Michigan State | Got jumped by Wisconsin, but MSU has worse losses and worse wins, so it's hard not to rank them below. |
| Marquette | I'm high on Marquette. they have two good-great wins, two goodish wins, and have losses only to top 25 teams. |
| Texas Tech | Best win is still only Nebraska, so while a Duke loss isn't bad, they need a top tier win to be a top tier team. |
| Kentucky | Tier 4a- My knock on them last week was not having a quality win, and they showed that they are the team we expected with the win vs UNC |
| North Carolina | Have not been high on UNC at all this year, but I can't drop them too far for a loss on a neutral court to Kentucky |
| Oklahoma | 11-1 while 14th in SOS, and the only loss is Wisconsin? this team is being seriously underrated. |
| NC State | Huge jump for NC State, but they have one "good" loss with multiple good wins. |
| Arizona State | Tier 4b- The duality of man is shown off with the Sun Devils this week as they look awful against Vandy but pull a shocker against kansas |
| Houston | Has much better wins than SJU and have similar wins to Buffalo. Hard not to keep this undefeated team from rising in the ranks |
| Florida State | No impressive wins thus far, and a loss against Nova isn't looking great. |
| Auburn | Tier 5-Even with their two losses coming to top teams, they haven't beaten anyone of note and have looked shaky against mediocre teams |
| Buffalo | Rough loss against Marquette, but Howard was next to unstoppable in the second half. another loss would likely drop them from the top 25. |
| Indiana | 23 point win against Marquette continues to be their signature win, and its definitely a good one to have. loss to ark is holding them back |
| Mississippi State | 22 is probably too low for this team, but even with their lone loss coming against a top 20 team, they don't have any top 25 wins |
| Virginia Tech | In my opinion, this team is heavily overrated in the AP poll, as their best win is vs. a decent Purdue team. This team falls like SJU did |
| St. John's | as teams around them rack up quality wins, St. Johns can't keep up even while winning games handily. They drop from a bloated 14th. |
| Ohio State | Iowa, Nebraska, TCU, Kansas State, San Francisco, North Texas and Louisville are 26-32, all of which are extremely close to the 25 spot |
