Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Virginia | Unbeaten, needs to be tested still but otherwise looks like the best team in the nation |
| Michigan | Last week they were lower on my rankings but after getting a chance to really look at them play I am going to say they tie Virginia for best |
| Duke | This team also has a strong case to be tied for first outside of their lone loss which bumps them down |
| Tennessee | This team is really good and is my pick to win the SEC this year. Auburn and Kentucky are both in the hunt though. |
| Nevada | Really wish they would have played some real competition. ASU was a great win, and then they weren't. Still think this team is really good. |
| Kansas | The ASU loss looks worse given... recent events. But this team has looked great the rest of the season so I can't drop them too far. |
| Texas Tech | I don't think this team can win against the big name teams, but I do think they will stand their ground and challenge Kansas in the B12 |
| Kentucky | This may be a bit premature, but I do think Kentucky is better then some of their losses would indicate. Time is key for this team. |
| Michigan State | No real check in this week, they have stayed the course with only one mediocre loss. |
| NC State | ACC play will really tell if this team should be here, but they have looked stellar early on with their lone loss being to a good Wiscy team |
| North Carolina | Same as above, the UNC-NC State game early in ACC play will be the best tell of which team is posing and which is real. |
| Gonzaga | Solid team offensively, but against other good offensive teams they need to develop a stronger defense in order to win games convincingly |
| Virginia Tech | The hokies keep on gobbling up cupcakes |
| Marquette | This team has been looking great recently, really most of the year. |
| Auburn | Recovering well after losing to the Wolfpack. Tenn/Kentucky seem to be frontrunners in the SEC now, but I think Auburn might manage somethin |
| Florida State | They have been quietly good. Well not really quiet since they are a top 20 team but still it seems like they are getting through noncon well |
| Houston | Sorry for not having this team last week, it was a bit hectic and I overlooked this team. They are a really solid team for the tourney. |
| Ohio State | THE number 18 team |
| Iowa | |
| Buffalo | |
| Oregon | |
| Indiana | I didn't want to say it, but the results are clear: Indiana produces better bar graphs than Purdue. |
| Oklahoma | Maybe they'll fair better against a basketball powerhouse than a football titan |
| Wisconsin | The Marquette loss isn't concerning since they are looking like a really solid team, but WK is more concerning |
| Nebraska |
