Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Virginia | Best resume in the country. Duke has a loss, how people are ranking them higher than VA has me dumbfounded. |
| Michigan | |
| Tennessee | |
| Duke | |
| Houston | |
| Michigan State | Great win @OSU. It's very surprising that they lost to Louisville, but I'm just assuming it was an outlier. |
| Texas Tech | Both wins this week were close to unranked teams. |
| Iowa State | Huge win against a universally ranked top 5 team. Both losses happened when they were missing four players. |
| NC State | Needs to beat UNC at home this week. This might be the most important game in terms of rankings that happens this week. |
| Gonzaga | Any loss in Gonzaga's remaining schedule will drop them significantly in my rankings. Their toughest remaining game with be @ SF this week. |
| Mississippi State | We won't really know how good this team is until toward the end of January, but with only one close loss to the team that beat Kansas...11th |
| Kansas | Normally road losses shouldn't hurt you too badly, but a 20 point loss to an AP unranked team probably shouldn't happen. |
| St. John's | Other than the game against a good Seton Hall team where the refs screwed them out of a win, they've been flawless. This week @ Villanova. |
| Florida State | They don't get hurt too badly by a road loss to the best team in the country. |
| Marquette | 20 point loss to St. Johns. St John's is a great team, but you can't lose by 20 to anyone. |
| Auburn | Barely beat Murray St, went to OT against UAB. Lost to both of the good teams they've faced. Best win by far is unranked Arizona. |
| Virginia Tech | They have beaten nobody and lost to Penn St. We won't know how good they are until Jan 15 @ Virginia. |
| North Carolina | Good road win against unranked Pitt. After NC State this week they don't have a tough road game until late February. |
| Nevada | You can't lose to bad teams by 30 if you want to be a top 10 team. |
| Buffalo | |
| Oklahoma | |
| Kentucky | |
| Iowa | |
| Ohio State | |
| TCU |
