Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Virginia | Tier 1a Great resume, 1st in every metric but sagarin. Only loss to Duke by 2 on the road. Put on a clinic @ND just like last week vs VT |
| Michigan | Tier 1b |
| Duke | |
| Tennessee | Barely beating Vandy and Alabama is not a good look. Not too worried, but that's why I dropped them a spot |
| Gonzaga | Santa Clara is a bad team, but they're no swac team. Beating a team on the road 98-39 that beat USC and San Diego is impressive |
| Michigan State | Not much to be said here. 2 solid wins and a loss that doesn't sting too bad is mostly a wash on the week |
| Kentucky | Tier 1C: The last group of major tourney contenders for now(UNC, Nova and Louisville keep playing like they have been then they'll move up) |
| Kansas | Anyone who puts Kansas lower than 10 has too short a memory. 8 Q1 wins, #1 SOS, neutral wins over tenn and msu. |
| North Carolina | Tier 2a 4 loss team with better losses than kansas, but not as many quality wins and lesser quality top wins |
| Houston | More impressive wins on their resume than nevada and a much more acceptable loss. Catching up in the metrics. |
| Marquette | Continue to roll in the Big East. Theo John is a beast. Howard takes over games. If their win margins were better I'd have them a tier up. |
| Villanova | They look like they're back. I can't just forget the early losses, but if nova continues playing this way then they're contenders |
| Nevada | |
| Virginia Tech | Tier 2 Might be the most overrated team this week. Next week if they lose theres no hiding behind tOp QuAlitY lOSses |
| Buffalo | Only behind VT because VT has a better top win. |
| Purdue | The highest QuAliTy LOSsEs out there. 6 losses is admittedly high, but they're 5-5 in top 30 equiv games w/ many better than that |
| Louisville | Their best wins are better than Purdue (both have vs MSU, but @UNC > @UW). Slightly fewer quality wins and worse losses though. |
| LSU | Somewhat similar resume to UB with an extra loss and some extra Q2 wins |
| Iowa State | Top wins not as good as Louisville's and their losses are worse. |
| Oklahoma | Tier 3 Great SOS with plenty of good, but no great wins. No losses that are that bad. |
| Texas Tech | The other contender for team most likely to be overrated this week. 3-4 in Q1 with their best win vs OU. Terribly back weighted schedule |
| Kansas State | What the hell to make of this team. 3 very good wins. 3 solid wins. 5 losses, 2 of which are pretty rough |
| Wisconsin | That WKU loss is ugly. They have a lot of losses, but hey don't get blown out and they can beat the best. More than can be said of others |
| Mississippi State | Plenty of solid wins. No real standouts. Quality of losses isn't great |
| Cincinnati | That loss to ECU... 26. Maryland 27. FSU 28. Iowa 29. Wofford 30. NC state 31. TCU 32. Washington |
