Rank | Team | Reason |
---|---|---|
| Tennessee | (+0) The Vols are really good at teasing upsets and then magically winning: see Vandy, South Carolina, and Texas A&M |
| Duke | (+0) Duke is really good but I think Tennessee is more consistent and can shoot better |
| Virginia | (+0) That NC State game was quite a scare, especially considering the VTech-Wolfpack game this Saturday, but the Cavs survived |
| Gonzaga | (+0) When St. Mary's has an off year this conference schedule is pretty boring, at least San Francisco is someone this year |
| Kentucky | (+1) UK's really rolling now, 2 Tennessee games left on the schedule that should both be crazy, a split is very possible |
| North Carolina | (+3) Solid revenge win over Louisville but this team still has areas to improve |
| Michigan | (-2) Not a good look, Michigan's offensive weaknesses have really become pronounced in the past month which is unusual for a Beilein team |
| Nevada | (-1) Still winning games by large margins but their SoS is just so bad. |
| Marquette | (+1) It's crazy how Howard has the capability to just go off and take over a game, Marquette is dangerous |
| Villanova | (+1) The Big East race between Nova and Marquette should be quite interesting |
| Michigan State | (-3) Losing Langford really hurts this team, Winston might start getting tired from putting in so much work and needs someone to step up |
| Houston | (+2) Revenged their only loss, no one expected Houston to be this good this season |
| Purdue | (+3) The BIG suddenly doesn't seem like such a 2-horse race, the Boilermakers are getting into a groove and matching their efficiency rating |
| Virginia Tech | (+3) I mean NC State shot terribly but still holding a team as offensively potent as the Wolfpack to 24 is a huge achievement |
| Kansas | (-2) This team is really hit or miss but a good Texas Tech win reasserts them as the favorite to repeat in the BIG 12 |
| Wisconsin | (+4) If the Michigan teams and Purdue are at the top of the BIG, Wisconsin is higher than everybody else |
| Louisville | (-5) Losing to the Tar Heels isn't something to be super ashamed of, this team has really blossomed under Mack |
| Iowa State | (+4) Good couple wins this week, the Cyclones really have the ability to run with anyone and have a chance to win the BIG 12 |
| Cincinnati | (+6) Lots of losses around them and they just slid up, on a roll right now. |
| Kansas State | (NR) Good recovery from a really bad Texas A&M loss, still have a decent resume |
| Buffalo | (-6) A couple bad losses doesn't change the fact that Buffalo can play with anyone and will be dangerous in March |
| Washington | (NR) If any PAC 12 team has a hope at an at-large bid I think it's the Huskies |
| Wofford | (NR) Only 4 losses to 4 tournament teams is very impressive for a Southern Conference team |
| Baylor | (NR) No clue what happened to Baylor but they just bashed two teams I had ranked last week. |
| LSU | (-7) Next Five: (Auburn, Iowa, Lipscomb, Maryland, Texas Tech) |
